Andy1 replied on November 05, 2009 02:53 to the discussion "How does Twitter make money?" in Twitter:
I just watched the Dragons' Den and They were bidding on a business that is almost exactly like Twitter except they actually have advertisements on their website, but I still don't understand how Applications like Twitter are the future of social networking. It's more like social madness. The tweets or comments left on these applications are so random. I've tried to imagine a room full of people communicating but not with one another, instead simply talking about themselves or just saying random things off the top of their head, I think this kind of thing goes on in the psychiatric hospital. Twitter isn't new, yeah the name is unique but it is essentially a chat room, such as popular ones Chatterhead, Teenspot and interactive chat rooms like Habbo Hotel, Second Life, etc. Twitter is even more primitive than these chatrooms because it has a character limit, causing it's users to write minute comments or sentence fragments and it has zero interactivity. It boasts itself as a micro-blog but how can something full of such randomness be close to anything like a blog. I've searched online to see if it generates any revenue because I can't see where it would but people have said it does through SMS messaging, which must be a very small revenue, and so many people text rather than SMS. It just seems so socially incomplete, there doesn't seem to be much of a business model and yet some people talk about it as though it's like a drug, "I can't wait to get home and twitter", people like that need to get a life. None of my friends or people I know say that, thank God, they all think it is rediculous. But can anyone shed some light as to how this broken communication madness application is the future of social networking?

long urli just published a test site and im stumped on something. I'm making a flash website and i am uploading flash files to each page. I want the flash buttons, when pressed, to go to the correct page on the website. i named the website legaldept.yolasite.com, and i made another page called collections, so i was assuming the url of the page would be legaldept.yolasite.com/collections.php, but instead it's a long thing with different numbers and letters. can the url be shortened? thanks for your help.

Is there a way to personalize the description for my website ad on Google? Is there a way to personalize the description for my website ad on Google? My website looks great! I just set up Google AdSense with it as well. I searched Google to see if my website would show up, I typed in Flash Canada 1 in the search bar and my website came up at the number one spot! but is there a way to edit the description so I can describe briefly what my website offers? Thanks for your time.

Thanks yeah I'm designing this website so my mom can sell her pillows that she makes online, I'm almost finished it, just need to make a few more pages, the rest of the pillows and other small, but important details, like setting up a bank account with Paypal and setting up shipping. Lee you mentioned Favicon's. I'm not sure what that is but I'll search it up on google. thanks for the great comments and support guys!

Pages still load slow...Sometimes when I click on a button on my website it will take a good minute or 2 to load. Sometimes if you click once on a button, the bar at the bottom of the browser pops up but no activity happens and the page doesn't even load, so I have to click the button again and again and then finally the page will load. My pages have no big files in them, all below 200kb per page, so that's not the reason. I've had this problem before and I don't think I really got a good explanation as to why this happens, if there is some sort of thing i package i need to purchase to boost the speed of my website pages loading, i will purchase it, because i don't want customers to click on buttons and have to wait for pages to load, or to not bother waiting and go to a different website. Thanks for your time! my website is www.pillowsplusonline.com.

catalog of products problemsI've recently begun setting up a catalog of products on my website and I have some questions and problems with this widget. First the problems, If I add an item to my catalog, then press ok and later decide I want to edit the description of the product, I cannot. It won't let me backspace so I'm forced to delete the item and then re-enter it, but then it automatically goes to the bottom of the items list and I can't move it up to where it was before. Right now I have no way of knowing if taxes will be added on to the product and shipping when someone adds the item to their cart, I know I can edit all those features if I create a shopping cart right on Paypal (doesn't allow me to place pictures of my products though which sucks), but on this widget I'm not sure where to go to do that. My questions are can my products be laid out in rows instead of one big column? Is there anymore editing features for the shopping cart other then adding an item, it's title, price, description and photo? Thank you for your time, by the way my website link is www.pillowsplusonline.com.

Flash animations for just $20!Hey Everyone. I have created a website on synthasite but it is still under development it's called www.advertisingnorthbay.com, check it out. Well I just wanted to let everyone know that if you ever need a Flash animation done for your website, I can do it for $20. Just let me know in detail what you might be looking for and I'd be more then happy to offer my services to you. My whole website is done using Flash and synthasite supports Flash swf files which is why I like it so much. So get back to me whenever and I'll send you a link to my paypal payment page, and get started on it right away. I will also give you instructions about how to set it up on your website as well. Thanks for your time!

well actually to be honest that link that says website built using synthasite, a free website creator, in my situation, i've built my website entirely in macromedia flash 8 and just upload the files on blank white pages so that would be cool if it could say something like site hosted on synthasite, a free website creator or something, and if anyone knows a way of getting that done that would be cool. if not then its ok.
Andy1 replied on January 30, 2009 04:02 to the question "You won't believe.....Better than Synthasite" in Yola:
I agree with Guido, I think that synthasite is great for building a free website, and if anyone else wants to use a different site builder they can go ahead, i mean lets be honest, after making ur website on synthasite, the ease of making it and all the great support you get, y would anyone in their right mind want to jump ship to a different site builder, and have to rebuild there whole website. I personally think doing that would be a big pain in the A. I actually don't mind every page of my website saying synthasite in small letters at the bottom left hand corner, I think that since synthasite lets me host my site for free with them, a link to there website doesnt hurt anything. infact I hope more people discover synthasite so it can grow, and if it grows, they can offer even more great features for freeloaders. I can truthfully say I like things free, and especially right now since the economy is disgusting, I recently got laid off from my job and I hope that once I get my website finished and running, it will help me generate money so i can pay my bills, and seeing how hosting with synthasite is free, it's great!
Andy1 asked a question in Yola on January 30, 2009 03:24:
registration number and place of registration?I'm wondering what my registration number is and I guess for place of registration it's synthasite because I paid synthasite for my domain name and synthatsite hosts my site so... but i'm not exactly sure if that's right. I am making a legal page for my website, http://www.advertisingnorthbay.com/le..., and i want to add those 2 things, registration number and place of registration in the statement, but i'm unsure of what they are.
