Wow..... mega long thread and most users are not in favour of limits and paying for services.
I however, use my Yola site as a hobby site, we are a non profit organization that gets no funding, nor do we make money. So i dont feel the need to go pro. and due to that, the changes dont really affect me too much. Its been said many times before, Anyone in business need revenue, and Yola is a business after all.
However, my only gripe is.....
For so long, some of the more active members of Yola have been asking for certain upgrades, to which Yola kept saying 'we'll consider' or variations of the type. Some of these have been developed but unfortunately you can only get some of the most popular asked for features if you pay?
Thats not so cool.
Im still waiting for the ability to upload an already successful forum to my site but can only do that if i go pro and i soooo cant afford too.
Yola, I understand why the restriction on uploading HTML files due to abuse and such, but as it has been long time requested, Can you not sort out a way for people to have current forums on there Yola site by having some kind of Vetting system?
This is where people submit their site to you for review, and if fit, you can allow them one page only or something just to host the forum?
Im aware this may be more work, but it will make alot of Yola users happy im sure.
My site is central to its forum, so this is a really important feature for me and i soooo want to lose the iframe its currently in.
Thanx

Another 'nav bar/ menu' question...Hey guys and gals.
Im probably being really dumb here, buuuuuut, is it possible to have the nav menus on the yolacode site to either work with or replace my current nav bar?
I have lots of pages but you can only really view them by clicking through, i want to change this so on mouse over, you can see from the homepage what the site has to offer which will make for faster navigation for users.
I would like to use the 'smooth nav menu' so any step by step tips on this would be great.
Thanks

Atticus replied on September 10, 2009 14:02 to the question "Can anybody show me their examples of a blog?" in Yola:
Hi Stewart,
My site is based around the blogging system but i have integrated with a standard website. The home page is part blog, part site. Then as you make your way through the site you will discover a good balance between blogs/ and website. Ive used blogs on the pages that need updating frequently except my media pages. On the pages that wont need updating as much, such as member index page, its just a static page. Click on one the members, then into a blog page you go. Thats practically what my site is like throughout, think of it like a book:
Content page: Static webpage
Articles page: Blog
Hope it inspires you.

Hi Connor,
Yeah i was on about the tags at the bottom of the blog.
Oh well, as i said its no biggie, just think it'll look nicer.

Hiding Blog Tags?Is it possible to hide the tags in the blog?
I know they are quite important for SEO reasons but i dont like the way they look at the end of the blog article. This is purely an asthetic design for myself.
So apart from not entering any, is there a way to hide them?
Thanx as always

Atticus replied on August 07, 2009 18:40 to the question "Can I add forums to a page in my Yola site?" in Yola:
I have a forum via iframes on my site. It embeds nicely (with some tweeking) and goes with my whole theme. I had the forum before i started with synthasite but its nice to blend the two. Unfortunately for me, the forum does not count as part of my main site due to the iframe. So that aint too great for SEO. but hey ho, at least it works and looks ok.
It is from SMF (simple machines forum) and although my forum is a main paid hosting one, there are many freehosting sites out there for SMF.
Have a look and be (hopefully) inspired.

Easier Blogging via the Yola Blog suggestionHey Yola. Not sure if this has been suggested before but heres a thought......
A lot of folk on here keep mentioning on here personal blogs for thier members. Now i too would benefit greatly from this. Heres my suggestion, is it possible to have a stand alone/ quick sign in page for the blogs so we dont have to log in to yola site editor every time we want to update? This way, the members of a particular site can all log in via one password and update without having to go through the back engine.
Would this be possible?
And yeah, i would lurrrrrve the ability to embed my existing forum within my site as at the moment im using an iframe from an old site i used to use. Just thought i'd add that.
Oh, and i have just upgraded my domain name from www.ripa.synthasite.com to www.ripaonline.co.uk and it was so simple due to the Yola tutorial. Thanks for that guys

Hi Beauty. The sites are bold and easy to navigate. But an arty colour picture of lipstick or something might benefit the front page of the beauty site.
The baby sitting one is clean and straight to the point.
Good luck with that.

Hope to inspire.......A question, a request and some ideas too all in one post!!
Ive been working on my Yola site for a while now and after many design changes and ummm and ahhhs i feel it is ready to show off :p.
I have got a great gallery working. The gallery section proved to be a great issue for me as Yola dont like JS for reasons we all respect. Also have a cool video player section embedded via Youtube. Ive even got an embedded forum! Now i aint a great web designer but i feel that some Yola users may become inspired by some of the tweaks ive used.
It would be great if some of you folks check it out. I have gone for a clean minimalistic site by combining blogs with standard pages. It is a paranormal research site.
I would also like to hear from Yola users Paranormal accounts.
Apologies for the long post and i hope the site inspires.
