This surely sucks. I had something like this happen a few months back. Somebody downloaded my full website and then just changed a few pics and content around and put in some of their own. I actually noticed when the site appeared in my "came from" stats. I visited the site and to my surprise, it was a ripoff of mine, and they did not bother to change all of the links, so a good chunk of their visitors ended up visiting my site as well. I thought they had actually hacked my site, so I contacted synthasite support and they explained what was up.
I sent the site rippers a friendly email explaining about copyright infringement, how I had a log of their IP address and visits, and their domain registration data from http://iwhois.com. I said I'd give them 3 days before taking legal action. Luckily all was resolved rather quickly, they didn't even reply. Next time I visited their site, all was changed. Nonetheless, it's one of those things - there's no sure way of knowing who's copying, reproducing, or even selling the stuff you put on the net. I have a copyright notice on each of my pages and hope for the best. I surely had no idea how much it would cost to actually take any legal action against someone in Bangladesh, aside from sending their registrar an email explaining what was going on.
Good luck on resolving this Peter!

A comment on the question "Prevent Google from crawling on pages other than homepage" in Yola:
One more thing - the reason why I chose to do this instead of password protection is the following. I changed my site around; deleted some sections, changed the names of some pages, etc. Some of the pages I intended to delete had incoming links from other sites. So I decided to leave the pages there and put in redirects to the new corresponding section. When doing this, Webmaster Tools gave me a warning about the redirects.
I wanted the pages to be there, and for them to be accessible by users following links to them - I just did not want google to index those pages. Password protection would not have been useful for users following links to those pages, as ultimately they would not have been able to reach the content they were looking for. – Cosmic Sensorium, on March 07, 2009 17:08

Hi,
This is the link I had posted:
http://www.google.com/support/webmast...
<!---
<meta name="robots" content="noindex">
--->
will tell robots not to index the particular pages you put this code in (remember to just copy what's between the <!--- and --->)
So far, the only way I know of to add this is dropping an html widget and pasting the code on each page you want not to be indexed... The thing is it does not end up in the head section of your site (where meta tags are supposed to be). Nonetheless, dropping this particular meta tag outside of the head section has worked for me. The pages I put it on are not being indexed by google according to webmaster tools.
I also tested this by dropping the code on pages that had already been indexed. They were removed from the index the next time my site was crawled by google. Taking the code off allows for your page to be indexed on subsequent crawls.
Hope this helps!

Cosmic Sensorium replied on March 05, 2009 21:13 to the question "How do I add meta-data to a template-created website??" in Yola:
hey, I was wondering if adding
<!---
<meta name="distribution" content="global" />
<meta name="rating" content="general" />
<meta name="copyright" content="my copyright info" />
<meta name="author" content="my author info" />
--->
was helpful / useful at all? I've seen it on some of the art sites I visit... If so, can I add this meta-data via an html widget on the top of the page?
Thanks!
Cosmic Sensorium replied on March 02, 2009 22:02 to the question "insert scroll bar into online store--Possible?" in Yola:
Savannah, not sure if this is what you had in mind... but check out this tutorial about getting a scroll bar inside a table cell:
http://www.dreamweaverresources.com/t...
here's another thread with info on this topic:
http://getsatisfaction.com/SynthaSite...
it lets you have a scroll bar for a section of your webpage allowing you to put something else underneath it without having to scroll all the way to the bottom of the page to see all the content. if you need help implementing it do post back!
another option might be getting frames, perhaps somebody else can help you with that if it's what you want.
Cosmic Sensorium replied on March 02, 2009 17:09 to the question "Shipping cost widget on online store" in Yola:
Paypal does offer a shipping calculator that's fairly straightforward to use. All you need to do is login to your paypal account, go to merchant tools, and click on shipping calculator under "shipping and tax". It lets you create multiple shipping methods / prices.
The bad thing is that a customer has to go all the way through to "proceed to checkout" in order to enter their zip code or country and get a quote. you can see how this works at my mandala fine art prints store.
I also put up a post in my FAQ on shipping and handling rates as it was a question I got a few times by people who apparently wanted to know before proceeding to checkout.

ALRIGHT!!
Mr. Ed, I had no clue about how active and copiously helpful you have been to so many synthasite users! I know your tips have always helped me out, but I see I've been missing out on a few... out of the 1,000! that is really something! and motivates me to reconsider what I use my "free" time in... =)
Big congrats to you, and may all our good wishes help you to achieve everything your heart desires. May all the help you give others return to you 10-fold!
Thanks,

Cosmic Sensorium replied on February 23, 2009 02:34 to the question "How can I find my site's traffic rank...?" in Yola:
Hello all,
A good way to check on your website ranking is submitting it to http://websitegrader.com. They analyze your website and give you a very good free report in a few seconds.
Aside from giving you your site's rank, they give you very valuable and detailed information as on how to improve it. Including:
Google PageRank
Google Indexed Pages
Traffic Rank according to Alexa
Entries on the Yahoo! Directory
del.icio.us bookmarks
and a bunch of other info.
*no, I have no business with websitegrader! just a happy user. I managed to pull up my rank considerably by following their tips.
