Dennis Waldrop replied on November 04, 2009 18:25 to the update "Hey Yola users, how do you prepare to build a site?" in Yola:
When you start to build a website you need a road map of where to go, how to get there and what you want to see along the way. Yola might want to be sure to include some prodding questions when you start to build your site. How many pages, what kind of pages, what kind of information etc. Yola might also give some suggestions ideas for basic pages, i,e home page, picture page, events page, Finally Yola might want to give some basic instructions on how to do a few tasks, i.e how to add comments, how to add a calendar, how to add a counter, how to upload a picture, etc.
By creating a basic website road map you will be helping new users to getting there sites up more quickly with less begiiner questions.

Dennis Waldrop shared an idea in Yola on November 01, 2009 12:54:
How do you drive people to your website?Hello everyone, I am looking for ideas on how to drive people to my website, or as the question implies how do you drive people to your website? I would love to hear your ideas!!
For me I am associated with other related groups and I market my web address on those sites. I am also continiously updating my website. I do a daily log, I add new pictures from time to time and yesterday I added a calendar of events page to the site. Since I am a struggling author and I want to plug my new book I have created bookmarks with my web address and I hand them out to people I meet. (could be the clerk at the grocery store, or the waiter at lunch, etc). I take every encounter as a possible sale so I market myself to everyone. I have now also created an author's business card with the website that I will be handing out in addition or along with the bookmark.
Thanks

I like the Holiday theme. That is very appropriate for your website. I just added (with much effort) a calendar for events on my site. Check it out if you get a chance. www.homerthedulcimer.com
Dennis Waldrop replied on October 31, 2009 17:34 to the question "What is an easy way to add an interactive calendar?" in Yola:
Marije, I have spent all morning working on this. I found another calendar at Keep and Share Calendar and I was able to load it on my website. This one seems to be working without any problems and it is verily easy to use and update. The instructions for adding the html was easy to follow and they seem to have a lot of other functions that might be of value in the future.
A comment on the question "What is an easy way to add an interactive calendar?" in Yola:
I tried it both ways. I added a widget and selected Google Calendar. Then on the bottom of the pae it showed it was opening the page with a green progress bar. After the bar was completely green it still showed the file trying to load. After a half hour I deleted it.
I tried doing it by adding the HTML but the same issues occurred but this time it said it was trying to load the widget which it did not do either. – Dennis Waldrop, on October 31, 2009 15:17

What is an easy way to add an interactive calendar?I have looked at the posts about adding an interactive calendar and I have not been successful based on the posts I have read. I have added a calendar but could not modify it. I have created a personal google calendar and pasted the html but now the website just spins while trying to load so I delted that. Any specifice directions you can give me to make this process easy would be appreciated.

Dennis Waldrop replied on October 04, 2009 15:27 to the question "Is there an easy way to add multiple pictures to your website" in Yola:
I am not sure what the issue was for adding more text boxes except you decide the number of columns and this seemed to cause me to have an issue with adding additional pictures - one by one. Now that I got some information on Flickr and found out it is part of Yahoo I set up my account and uploaded the pictures. I deleted my individual pictures and added the flickr widget and my pictures uploaded. I added more pictures to flickr and they were uploaded to my website but for some reason I lost one of my original uploaded pictures. I had to delete the widget and readd and change the number of pictures and then they were all there. This is something I will have to watch if I add more pictures.

Is there an easy way to add multiple pictures to your websiteWhat is an easy way to upload pictures to my website. I added two text boxes and copied my two pictures into the boxes but I cannot add more text boxes on the page to add more pictures. Is there a more efficient way to add pictures to the site maybe through some sort of album where multiple pictures are store? http://www.homerthedulcimer.com/
Dennis Waldrop replied on October 04, 2009 13:15 to the problem "Yola Membership" in Yola:
I understand free and I understand what is reasonable. It is one thing to come for a visit and never want to leave and it is another to come for a visit and help pay for groceries.I am very pleased with what I have received from Yola. Just the fact that they are willing to help with questions in a community setting is wonderful.

I liked your websites. I have seen advertised on TV a lady who created a company to screen and recommend babysitters. Have you considered becoming afilliated with that company. They state they do the background checks and verify the creditentials of the person doing the babtsitting. Just a thought. Here is my website. I am a struggling Author and have written a children's book which should be published shortly, http://www.homerthedulcimer.com/
