Diane replied on November 10, 2009 21:09 to the question "Link not working right" in Yola:
Hi Diane-
Typically to format a background image, I'd make an image that's large enough to fill most of the visible background (so yes, around 1200px wide) and then it would fade off into whatever color I select on it's edges. You can see that effect on many of the Premium Style designs in Yola.
Otherwise, I'd pick a smaller image that tiles as I've done here:

image that repeats in the background

Another piece of advice I'd offer up- typically it's easier for a visitor to your site if the site's structure and navigation are consistent from page to page. Keep up the good work - looking forward to seeing any further updates!

Hi-
As a note, we mostly design styles to fit a 1024 pixel wide display that is the wide majority of all internet users (with about 4-7% using lower or using an unknown size).

Hi-
Are you pasting it into a text box? For that code to work, you need to drop an HTML widget onto the page and paste the code into there.
I recently added one to this site, is this what you mean?

Diane replied on October 02, 2009 20:08 to the question "How to use a font in my web site like Copperplate Gothic Bold using HTML code?" in Yola:
Hi-
With a specialized font like Copperplate Gothic Bold, you run the risk that if you set the code to display that font, that a user who doesn't have that font on their computer will see your site entirely differently than you have designed. In other words, only site visitors who have that font on their computer can have their browser use it to display your site in the font.
As a designer, I'd recommend sticking to a web-standard font for larger amounts of text, and then using the Copperplate Gothic Bold for headlines as graphics and added graphic elements for visual interest.
I've done something like that with this site:

Good luck!

Hi Julia-
Domains that have been transferred to Yola don't yet have access to the Advanced Domain Settings and we will need to make any changes on your behalf. This is something that we still need to fix on our side.
In the meantime, you can get started on the (tutorial)[http://www.yola.com/tutorials/creatin...] and send us the related codes (CNAME if you want to use Google Apps, MX Record if you want to use Windows Live, or any other service) and we will make the change to your domain for you.
Cheers!

Hi-
I have worked on sites for clients myself and what I recommend to them is that they make sure the password you set on the account isn't one that they'd use with a lot of other, highly secure sites that use the same email address as well.
We currently don't have other ways of collaborating, so I recommend making the password that you'll share unique to your Yola account.
Good luck!

Yeah, I'm always working on the look of the site, but tonight was mostly a content loading night! I'm going to be editing the banner images soon so that they're more varied. I had an old version of my site with some great food photos and quotes over the top. I'll probably go back to something like that eventually!
Thanks- glad you enjoyed it.

I agree! This looks fantastic! And it's making me hungry...I am definitely going to try some of those recipes.
One idea might be to take more large photos of your food and use a different banner image on each page. The large image is very enticing so if you have more that are big, maybe try to use a few more.
You've done a great job of organizing the information and presenting it in a clean and clear-cut way.
Congrats on a great looking site!

Hi Tarlyn!
We did take a very careful approach when considering how to represent the Yola brand in a subtle way that would be consistent across our users sites.
I agree with Monique, however, that I think it actually looks pretty integrated into your site's design and not at all clashing!
