A comment on the update "Yola Website Makeover Challenge" in Yola:
I never was know for being tactful... just ask my daughter's boyfriends.
If you re-worded it and didn't mention professionals, it would be much less damaging to the industry. If an amateur "just for fun" site builder wants to get involved - great. Have fun. But a professional doing this is wrong. – Guido Graphics, on August 13, 2009 05:36

A comment on the problem "Firefox 3 keeps crashing and locking up other programs" in Mozilla:
Use Google Chrome! It's fast and reliable, plays videos all the way through, does not freeze and will not lock up other programs.
Fire Fox is a bug infested program that has slow loading, no loading, memory drain, freezes, locks up other programs, only plays 1 minute of videos and generally does not work right.
As you can see by all the posts, this is a Very Widespread Problem that Mozilla refuses to accept responsibility for.
They like to blame the add ons and their solution is for you to spend countless hours disabling every possible combination of your add ons until you find the one/combination that is causing the problem.
B.S.! I do not use ANY add ons and constantly have all of the common problems associated with their browser. Nor do I wish to trouble shoot a program that should just work right. – Guido Graphics, on May 31, 2009 10:09
Guido Graphics replied on May 18, 2009 08:44 to the question "pictures" in Yola:
Here are some ways to manipulate your photos...
Place a "2 column" widget on your page, and place an image into each side.
Repeat to continue down the page.
Use the "image" icon on the side tool bar to place an image in the 2 column widget.
Click and hold mouse button on the center bar in 2 column widget, and drag it left or right to re-size the columns, and center your photos as needed.
After you place a photo, look for the little red square. Click and hold and drag to re-size it.
Once you have an image in place, click "properties" on the right, then click an image and you can set "position" to the right, center or left (within the widget it's in, not the page) again, drag the center bar for even more control.
"Margin" can also be used to adjust the space on all 4 sides of the image, within the widget.
You can also place another 2 column widget into one side, or both sides, or place a third inside of the second... or various combos to fit your needs.
You can use a text widget with no text in it to create blank space above and below the photos. Just place a text widget, click to enter text, but don't type anything, just save it empty, or hit "enter on your keyboard to make a bigger empty space.
Being as you are placing the images in a text widget, you can also hit enter a few times under or above the photo to make blank space. (To get space above, hit enter first, leave the cursor there and then place the image under it.)
Save often, and look at the page in "preview" to make adjustments
If you look at my "links" page you can see the end result. That page has about 25 different text, 2 column, and 2 column within 2 column widgets, empty text widgets and image widgets to get the placement you see.

If you play with it a little, it will make sense.

A comment on the problem "HELP! NOTHING WORKS!" in Yola:
Nothing in windows will actually delete anything for real - only from your view and access. The files are still there somewhere and can be recovered with a program like "recuva" which is nice if you delete something by mistake and need it back.
Until you load enough new software to overwrite the clusters that hold that info, it is recoverable.
New software will not overwrite in a strict order - it's random where it gets placed. There could be files from 2 years ago that have not been overwritten yet, and files from last week that are.
Thats part of why you need to run defrag every now and then. It puts files that belong together in the same sectors of the drive. Defrag will also render old deleted files unrecoverable if they are overwritten by the files it relocates.
Another good program for total deletion is "heidi eraser" It targets only deleted files, blank space and cluster tips. (again, blank space is not always blank - thats where deleted files hide) This is good if you need secure deletion of personal flies on a shared system, or like a computer at work where you have done personal work and don't want anyone to be able to recover it.
Hope this makes sense... it's a little confusing. – Guido Graphics, on May 07, 2009 04:01

In Fire fox...Go to tools / clear private data
In Chrome...Tools (wrench icon) clear browsing data
In I. Explorer... Tools / delete browsing history
That will do a basic clear for you.
If your system in more then 6 months old go to...
http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccl...
and download crap cleaner. Run it at least once a week to keep your hard drive clean of leftover items you thought you deleted. Set your browser to "do not clear history at shut down" and let c cleaner do it for you when you run it weekly.
Most do not realize that when you put something in the recycle bin and delete it, it is still saved on your hard drive. The first time you run c cleaner, it will blow your mind the stuff it will find to permanently delete.
If your system is older then 1 year, go to...
http://www.filehippo.com/download_rec...
Run it on "deep scan" before you go to bed - it will take several hours the first run - when it is done, select advanced mode / right click anywhere and select view / select tree view / click the little box / right click again, select secure delete and go take a nap. 30 minutes to an hour later (depending how many photos you have looked at and videos you have watched) you will have removed all the jpgs and video files of every photo and video you have ever looked at.
Every single picture that has ever been on your screen, whether you downloaded or clicked on it or not, has been stored on your hard drive. You will see thousands of them removed, and quite a difference in hgow you machine works.
A comment on the question "How can i make a row of mouseovers that link" in Yola:
I'm getting 4 to 5 phone calls a week now. Very pleased with it. The best thing I did was sign up for google maps - it free and puts me at the top of the page for any search that includes my key words plus "orlando" or "central florida" and I have 10 keywords putting me on page 1 now from my SEO efforts.
I've gotten almost 2000 cities from 121 countries! Never made the site though... didn't get much interest or many submissions, but I'm still tracking it and having fun with it. The only places left are countries that probably don't have electricity or internet. : )
Keep in touch, great to hear from you. – Guido Graphics, on May 06, 2009 07:03
