SEO - web directories dont recognise there links on my links page ?

when i try and add my site to directories the directories state that they cannot find there link in my links page each time i add one. I link them properly with the html editor and you can click them on my published page and they link correctly but for some reason when the directories try and validate this in there submission process i keep getting this error from every directory. I have my own domain name and everything, anyone know how i can get round this as i need to optimize my site for search engines.

Oh and have tried leaving over a weeks time gap and gone back to the same directory with no luck also so its not a time thing, thanks

'Only images can be inserted' error

"only images can be inserted" is what it says whenever I try and upload stuff, i have to end up hosting on photobucket and linking from there instead. I use gifs and Jpegs and have tried signing in and out clearing my private data including cookies and web history etc but still no avail. Its weird because sometimes it will let me upload anything but at times like now i just get the error message , anyone know how to get round this thanks

There is only one error on the first of my sites now and that is:

URL restricted by robots.txt

but it is a flash banner i made so chances are its something i have no t done correctly when formatting it or something.

the other site also has one, it comes up in both (errors for urls in site maps)
and (urls not followed) sections and states it is a:

redirect.error

But as with that you have the option to redirect them to a check out complete page, You know the type thank you for your order this is your order number etc etc etc a reassurance page id like to call it. I don't want this or checkout failed pages to be searchable especially as they for some reason are ranking higher in google than my front door / index page. thanks

so does that mean every page on my site even the ones not in the menu (like link pages back office stuff can be found by the search engines ? That will make sites geared toward commerce a bit unsecure and unprofessional wont it ? I mean in terms of data rather than payment details.

Is there anyway of stopping a page being found in google, Its just my site is indexed now but the check out complete page is top rather than my main index / homepage. Obviously that ain't good for business lol

I have pages on my site i dont want google to crawl but i want them to be available for customers who are browsing the site I.E checkout complete page. I take it this is where the No follow tag comes in right ? Could someone possible explain to me how and where i embed it, many thanks guys.

Hi I previously asked a question about my personal site , but i dont want it to be affiliated with get satisfaction or synthasite. It was my fault for typing my link , i have sinced delted the thread but it still comes up in google when i search my site, will it have been properly erased and will it just take time to disappear from google or is it like hell in the back office of get satisfaction ? any one got any ideas ? thanks

both my sites have the same two errors in google webmaster can i just check is this normal they are both for the same thing on each site both for /index.php (url in site map and url not followed) both identical on both my synthasite sites is this ok to live with or can it be rectified, thanks x

Oh its working now, how long does it take to be indexed I am excited now. my other site took two days to be indexed but it still reads:

Indexed URLs in Sitemap 0

how can i improve on this and also where do i find out my sites rank (I know its gonna be 0 or 1) but i need it to be one so i can start adding to directories if you get me

ive been thinking, i may have actually done this wrong. I just typed in sitemap.xml when i added it, do i have to do anything at synthasites end other than paste the google webmaster code which is on every page ?

yes thats exactly how it was and i submitted it. the first time i had an extra / so it read (http://.synthasite.com//sitemap.xml) thinking this may have caused the error i resubmitted it yesturday evening without the extra / but i cant tell if google has re-crawled it yet. see might be jumping the gun. maybe i should wait another day and see if it rectifies.

I cant honestly remember about the adds it was pretty quick i think it was more like half an hour. i just followed the instructions word for word and it was fine. Hope that helps.

they came up in less than a day i was quite surprised actually. They dont work out side the red lines though which is a bit rubbish as i cant have any skyscrapers.

but i am gonna try a wider template for the next site.

Hi thanks for the speedy reply, this is actually the second site map i have submitted. the first time i submitted it it did the same i follow the instructions step by step could it be anything else ?

my sitemap is sitemap.xml icant see what is wrong with that ? anyone got any ideas i really want to get this indexed thanks.

Why does my site always look different on any other computer than the one I build my site with, its really annoying, i think i have everything just right and then i switch PC and text and pictures are not lined up and in different places. I always make sure i republish stuff but I cant change one without the other being wrong, why does this happen ? I also get text spacing being different aswell anyone got any ideas ?
