Am i trying something impossible?
I am building a website called www.contactceleb.com. However im stark. Basically i have over 10,000 contact addresses of top celebrities on an excel document and would want the web visitors to type a name of the person they want to contact and website will display the name and address of the celebrity. My problem is all the details -names, contact addresses etc are in excel and i can’t figure out how to put in on my website so that each name is linked to address, so that a visitor would type a name and the database linked to the name displays the contact details. Someone suggested using Google docs and search site but all these sites don’t really help with the above issue. Or am i trying something impossible?

It is possible to upload an Excel document into the Site Builder, but it is not possible to have that file searched like a database. If you were to upload the Excel document it would be a file on your site that people would be able to click on and open on their computer as long as they have Excel.
If you want the data from the file to be searchable, what you would need to do is manually input the data into your site using a widget, then you would be able to use a site search feature to search the site.
There are a few options for a site search such as Google Custom Search Engine and quite a few others. Google Custom Search Engine requires your site to be indexed, so it would not work until that had happened.

Maybe it would be alot of manually work but, what if you made every number a blog post? That way you would tag it with the name of the celebrity and then people could use the blog search widget.
If I were you I would do the above method and than make available the excel file with all the numbers downloadable for a small fee of say €5 or €10 euro. This would be a way to make a bit of cash with it. Just my thoughts!
