An overhaul on my site! Please take a look and review it. Pretty please!

Whew... it's finally done! I've been busy trying to make everything work on my site. Working with semi-transparent backgrounds has been quite tricky.. but I think I got it to work well. I welcome your suggestions please. Also.. let me know if the site loads up quickly enough. I've been playing around with preloading the images to see if this helps any.

PS - it did take a while to load - ive seen a script for preloading also - dont know if its better or worse - on the one hand yoiu get the whole site if you wait - on the other hand you could be reading the site content while you wait - its a tuff decision.

I know what you mean about the pre-loading. The reason why I decided to go for it is because in order for my slideshows to work, for some odd reason, they have to be on a png background. Well.. my png background is huge! I tried to compress it but it still so big because my background is one big image that covers the whole page. So, I figured that if I use the pre-loading script, this will place the image into the user's cache. So, when they navigate from page to page, they won't be stuck waiting for this png background to load up. I guess I was thinking if my readers don't mind waiting for a few seconds in the beginning, then they could have a nicer time navigating in the site.

Turned out great Joy....It did take a few seconds for the page to load though....I have considered tilt view myself...You just made up my mind for me.Working with transparencies and staying translucent can be a bit tricky....one little oops and all is opaque again.

With that page that says "thanks for being patient as the site loads up" - is that okay as a warning or does that turn you off? Once you're in the site, does it load up quickly from page to page?

also... is the tilt viewer thing too much?? Wasn't sure what to take from your comment regarding that! lol =)

No no sorry...I like the tilt a lot. I think saying something is loading lets people know they are not stuck so I see it as good....Page to page navigation was fine also.

BTW.. with your internet connection Boomer, have you had any problems viewing my site, specifically with the little image rotator thing I have on my homepage? I seem to recall you had problems with Ed's picture trail.

BTW.. people.. the redirect page (the one that says , "thanks for being patient..." - is the wait time too long or short? When you are actually re-directed, is the site fully loaded? or when you get redirected, the site is still loading? I have the wait time for 4 secs. Just trying to figure out if that's enough time for all the images to get preloaded.

really it would depend on the amount of data that has to be loaded - im sure thats enough - perhaps even 2 or 3 would do.

Really.. 2 or 3 secs should be enough for all my images to pre-load? My png background is a whopping 850kb image!

Very nice! Maybe have something like what you have on the about us page on the loading thing, that would keep people interested. But make sure it's not big, don't want a loading page for a loading page!

Yep! I didn't use the same set up as you did though with making that center white piece..but it still works well I think! Thanks for the tip! =)

on the picture & blog page i can scoll right, (its too wide for my moniter)
