Does yola support the content of "recurring content" / includes?
Hi there,
I am currently evaluating Yola for a client I am building a moderately large content-based website for (medical website). I like what I see, but have a couple questions based around the concept of shared content
1) Recurring Content : the site will have a decent amount of content that recurs (i.e., is shared) between pages. This content would traditionally be thought of as "includes" in web development, and takes the form of things like sidebar content (customer testimonial quotes, FAQ excerpt, product description, etc.) as well as other content elements. I would prefer to not have to copy & paste these "recurring content items" to each new page as that would be a nightmare to maintain in the event of changes. Right now, I see no way of accomplishing something like this effeciently on Yola, but perhaps I am missing something?
2) Templates / Menus : this is somewhat related to question #1. My client has required (in wireframe mockups) that there will be an expanded version of the main site nav menu in (or above) the footer area. A couple of your templates provide for a duplicate footer nav menu, however, this isn't exactly what I need. First off, that would seem to limit me to those couple templates :(. Secondly, the footer nav is meant to be an expanded version of the main nav (with all of the subnav included) and thus is a much larger Nav element. See what I mean? I could accomplish this potentially if there was the concept of recurring content, but a "copy & paste" job would not be maintainable.
I saw a partial answer in the "sub pages" portion of the FAQ (http://www.yola.com/customer-support/...) but that just seemed to confirm my fear that this would be a very MANUAL and kludgy process :(

Those are great questions! To address them:
1. At this time the ability to have recurring content that changes on all pages when a change is made to one page is not possible. This is something I will put forth to our team as a feature request to be considered in future releases. You can make copies of an entire page as you build if there are similar elements using the "Save Page As" feature. Click the down arrow of the "Save" button and you will be able to choose "Save Page As" to create a duplicate of the page you are on.
2. Unfortunately the menus are set as they are in the Style, the option if you would like to have a more robust or a second navigation would be to create your own. Here is a link to a site built by some Yola Champs with codes for various things including navigation menus: yolacodes.yolasite.com.

Inappropriate?Hi there Emmy! I see that the "Copy/Duplicate" response seems to be the party line from Yola, but unfortunately, from a maintenance standpoint, that is untenable. I see that most of the other web developers with similar questions agree :). A much better (but still imperfect) solution (which I just tried and verified) was put forth by the user @Kawina under the topic :

About half way down the page, Kawina suggest an IFRAME approach to "common includes" which was given a star by the Yola rep @Monique. Kudos to Kawina for putting this forth. It works, but its still somewhat of a hack because of the hardcoded IFRAME dimensions that would possibly have to be updated on each page should the underlying include content change.
Thanks for the tip on navigation menus! I am just starting to explore Yola and am still a noob here, so all these resources help :)
