How do we get more templates for Synthasite/ yola?
Can we change or upload a template?
Easier, can we design our template online using CSS or HTML?
That allows us to design our own template to match our taste. Wouldn't it be better?
If this feature is not yet ready, as usual, can somebody help me to request for it?
Sorry if I repeated this question because it seems that CSS issues are quite popular in webhostings.
Thanks.

Inappropriate?Hello Irvin,
On this request feature I think you have the support of dozens of people here. Great to keep raising this request. -
Inappropriate?Hello IrivnS,
I'm sorry but right now you cannot upload your own style into the site builder. What you can do is change the banner image, colour palette and background image on some of our styles; I hope this will help you create something more to your taste.
One of our future plans is to allow you to develop your own CSS style if this is something that interests you. However, this functionality is going to take significant engineering on our part, so it is still a little ways into the future. In the meantime I hope you can find a style to suit your needs.
You may be interested in this link: Yola Style Guide. It has a handy filter function for you to see which style you might like. You can also check out this site forsite.synthasite.com, where one of our Yola users has added a page to his site comparing styles.
Let us know if you have further questions.

Oh, okay. Thanks. By the way, you spelled my name wrong :p -
Inappropriate? My site is using the best possible template I could find and still my text box bleeds into the header area and the columns extend beyond their borders while the Site Menu column is taking up so much valuable space and I can't add anything to it plus unused white space fills both margins. I don't know what to do since I can't alter the CSS of the template. This is really a problem. Is there any expectation that we might be able to alter the templates or create our own in the near future?

I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?A totally blank template to place the widgets into would wory very well!
I’m giving an idea
-
That would be very nice. I don't want a daunting blank template because I'm not an expert coder. If I were, I'd be on WordPress, lol. Yola is awesome for what it is, but it's just so limited with the unalterable templates. -
Inappropriate?Hi Ellavemia,
I'm sorry you are frustrated, we will help ok! We do hope to add a feature like creating your own CSS in the future, although it will take much engineering on our part so we ask for your patience.
The site menu area is taking up a large portion of your page; I am wondering if another style might suite you better? When the navigation is vertica as opposed to horizontal it does tend to take up more of the viable webpage space. There are quite a few styles where you can change the banner image. Here is a link to our Style Guide.
I believe the problems you are having are a browser issue as I have looked at your site in Firefox 3 and Internet Explorer 8 and it looks good to me, I do not see the text bleeding into the header area and the columns seem good too. I will give you a screen shot of what I am seeing, it is possible for you to give me a screen shot. I think you are in IE 7 and I do not have access to that.

If you could send me a screen shot that would be great! This will give me more information and help me better get to the bottom of the problem.
To take a screen shot on a PC:
1. Click Alt + Prt Scrn (it doesn't look like anything happened but a picture of the screen was just taken)
2. Click on the Start button in the bottom left hand corner of screen
3. Type in mspaint where it says "Start Search"
4. Open mspaint
5. Click Ctrl + V which will past the screen shot into paint
6. Then Save the screen shot
I look forward to helping!

Thanks littleus! It looks like IE 7 is showing the same thing as my browsers. Were you able to fix your problem Ellavemia? Your site looks good to me. -
Inappropriate?Thank you for taking the time to look at this so quickly. I've been increasing in traffic lately and I want the site to be the best it can be visually since it's getting more views. I'm open to changing the template but I'm afraid I'll lose things. I'll also have to remake my header, but that's not a huge deal. Let me know what you guys recommend, and thanks again. Edit to my notes: it's 1024x768, I typo'd.
I’m thankful

Ahh.. I see now... you're talking about the thin line just below your banner and above the black line. I'm not sure why this is happening.
You should be able to change your template without losing any of your content. Depending on the layout you have chosen, your content may not end up in the same position but you'll still have the actual contents. -
I just overhauled the whole thing using the CleanSlate template. It still has some disadvantages but it's better that the other one. The background image is a WIP. -
What kinds of things are you hoping to do Ellavemia? Perhaps we can give you some workarounds that may work for you? -
The only thing I'd like to do but I can't is to box in the main column (text area) from the side column but we can't add borders or tables to them so I don't think it can be done. As far as the background goes, I'll whip something up. I'm going to continue using a repeating pattern since attempting a large image would be difficult without being able to code it. I'm going for simplistic though. Very easy to read. This is fine for now. I like this template much better since it fills the screen. -
Guess what! You can add borders around your text. You just have to add a little HTML to do so. Here's a simple border code:
<div style="border: 1px solid; width=100%;">YOUR TEXT GOES HERE</div>
You can change the color, width, thickness of the border. You can enter this into your HTML on the text box widget. I've done this idea on my site: http://dejavuapparel.yolasite.com This should give you an idea of what it would look like. I did use a different code but nonetheless, it should work for you. If it doesn't and you'd like my border around my text, let me know and I'll get that one to you. -
Thanks a lot littleus. You have a really nice site, by the way. -
Thanks Ellavemia! Let me know if there's anything else you need. =)
