Check out my site's "links" page and go to "directory submitter" and download the free program. Lots of great inbound links can be had in a very short time.

Google the type of work you want to get, (I did orlando graphic designers, and up came "freelencedesigners.com" / "topdesignfirms.com" / "designfirms.org" / "bestoftheweb" and several others) and look for sites that show up that are classifieds / directories in nature and get listed on them also. (Kudzu.com is another good one that shows up)

A trick I learned from Bengo here on this forum is to put a description above your link when ever you post it somewhere, like this..

it tends to show up more often when you google your site's name.

If you Google guido graphics you can see the end result. It only took a little over a month to get all those listings there.

Your site category will decide the keywords and the meta tags. Check the competition on search engine before finalizing the same. Adding google code for google analytics & google webmaster is quite simple. All you have to do is follow the stepwise instructions.

But this is not all. You will have to dedicatedly work on SEO for your website for minimum time of 6 months to get a rank on the top pages of google. This will include forums postings, blog postings, directory submissions, article postings etc. This you can do on your own or if you have budget you can hire as well. Getting traffic to you site is never easy.

Firstly you need to add it to google. This link may be helpfull http://www.google.com/addurl/ however this may take a while.

Next you should think about using other peoples sites to promote yours. For example our link exchange: www.bhsobserveronline.co.uk and/or other link exchange sites.

Create a promotional video and publish it on youtube.

Ensure you have a hit counter; you can get one free at http://www.easycounter.com/

If you have a large marketing budget like me. A good way to promote your site is to get a large six foot banner and transport it to events and give the people in charge a cheque.
