Is Lightbox 2 Possible on my Yola site?
This is exactly what I want, but will it work on Yola? If not is there any alternatives? (Except Flickr. It does not work on my site!!)

Inappropriate?Hello,
I'm not super familiar with Lightbox 2 (except what I just read about it). But it doesn't appear that this would be possible. It says that it is necessary to add three javascript files to the head section which isn't possible and you also have to include the Lightbox CSS file or append your CSS with the Lightbox style, this also isn't possible.
What happens when you try to use Flickr? Where are you running into problems with it, I would like to help.

Inappropriate?Emmy, good news! I had problems with Flickr. Now it`s all sorted out. So I`m OK now, thanks!
I’m happy
-
Cool, that is great news! -
Inappropriate?Hi Ruhan,
To answer your question, no. I tried it out myself and couldn't get it to work (not to say that it might not work). I uploaded the javascript files to my own server and linked to them. I then uploaded the css to yola and had it all placed the way the instructions said but it didnt work for me.

Inappropriate?I'm having the same issues. Flickr and SmugMug just don't serve my needs and I prefer the look and feel of Lightbox2 to showcase my portfolio. I really hope I've missed something here because other than this glitch (and the lack of FTP support and a Wordpress interface) I really do love Yola and want to use it - it would make my life so much simpler!! But without these essentials it may be a deal breaker for me.
-
Inappropriate? The only thing I haven't tried yet is to upload all the files from the Visual Lightbox gallery I just created. But I'm dreading it - it will take all afternoon and then some b/c there isn't an FTP option with Yola.
If anyone else wants to try this, check out http://visuallightbox.com/ and if you can figure out how to make this work, let me know!! -
Hi Jane,
If Lightbox2 requires files to be added to the Head section of the document that this would not be possible; and FTP is not possible either. I hope you will be able to find something that works for you. -
Inappropriate?tried visuallightbox but it broke my page. Don't try this at home :) Too bad cause it looks pretty nice.

Inappropriate?Hi everyone,
Lightbox 2 can be used very easily with Yola.
See it on a (unfinished) site i have here http://palsbar.gr/photos
All the files in the show are hosted by me - no middle site.
@ Jane
The file manager is a very easy tool to use when uploading files, i would highly recommend the Yola Pro option if you are trying to add complex custom codes to your site.
You can get more info about Yola pro by searching Yolas help files.

Looks fabulous Lee! Is Lightbox2 the same as the one that Jane is referring to when she says "visual lightbox"? It would be totally awesome if you could outline the steps on how you achieved this. :) -
not sure - this is lightbox 2.03 same as the 1 on yolacodes but has the ability to group images - full script here - http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicin...
1 thing i noticed when applying to Yola was you need the full URL of the images for controlling the show in the CSS and java files. i.e. resources/.... was not enough. -
Great tip to know Lee - thanks for sharing! -
Inappropriate?Lee - thank you! That IS the Lightbox I to which I was referring.
Just want to make sure I understand this - the only way I can use Lightbox is to host my slideshow on a separate URL (not a Yola site) and provide a link out to that site?
Did you edit the code in Yola at all to make this happen other than provide a link? OR did you have to do significant editing to your lightbox page code?
You say this is Lightbox 2.03 "same as the 1 on yolacodes" -- what are yolacodes? Is this something only available to Yola Pro users? I'm just trying to discern if Yola Pro will be the answer to my prayers or not.
-
Hi Jane,
The lightbox show is fully hosted by your Yola site - You upload the images to your filemanger then apply the java and css to the page (if you dont have a pro account) or if you have Pro you also add the java and css to the filemanager. Its easy if you know a little bit about code and understand the URL of uploaed files with Yola.
The lightbox i show with the link above is 2.03, You can do a couple of new features with it like group together images on a page and link text in the descritpions.
The version before this (2) is on http://yolacodes.yolasite.com - this is a free resource for any Yola user - Just read the site rules then sign in and take the code.
You do not need Yola Pro for this but it is much easier with it because you can host javascript files - If you try to achieve it without Pro you will need to apply all the javascripts onto the page (ok but untidy).

Thanks Lee!!! -
Inappropriate?Thanks a million - I can't wait to try this out!
