Hi Monica and Jake
We are going to introduce part of what you are asking for very soon. You will have the option to password protect your entire site, or certain pages on your site that you select. You will assign a single username and password that you will need to share with members. One idea would be to add a Wufoo form for them to register, they could fill it in and you could send them the password! This feature is literally around the corner. A week or two and the most!
The more complicated aspect of this feature is going to take much longer:
the ability for people to register on your site and be assigned their own username and password. The reason for this is that we have to make it possible for each user to have their own database for their websites, and the database has to be able to "move" with them wherever they take their sites. This is not a trivial task, as you can imagine! So although we are full well aware that there is huge popular demand for this feature, building it is going to take time, and we don't have a release date yet. We don't like to make promises we can't keep, so we will let you know when we have made a lot of progress on the feature and we are nearly ready to go live with it.
In the meantime we hope the password protection feature is going to come in useful! We are excited about making it available with the next SynthaSite release.
Best wishes
Monique

Yes, a membership area for your site is a good idea and something that is on our list of requested features. We hope to work on making this possible in future!
Best wishes

Inappropriate?Hey Monique, i know synthasite is working hard to help us.
I m just curious to know, how this feature would be? (as i can see company is considering this idea)
would we able to make some pages public, and some pages accessed only by members?
And how the system would work? i mean would it let us choose and allow to accept people, or it would automatically generate passwords for users?
And yeah, i would be really happy to know when this feature would be introduced? :-)
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?it has been more than two weeks, but the only addon I could find was a chatroom. is this what the membership thing was?
I’m confused

Hi Jake. Please see my response above, in which I explain the difference between password protection and a membership feature. The password feature was released a few weeks ago (you can find this feature in the site manager tab in SynthaSite). The membership feature is going to take a lot longer, and we don't have a release date for it at this time. I am sorry for any misunderstanding that might have arisen, and I hope this clears things up for you. -

im josue and i like this idea is cool...show me how to make members cause i have a cuzin and she wants to be a member. -
Hello josua torres,
Are you wondering about how other people are able to sign up to your site; unfortunately there is not a way for people to become members of your site as we do not yet have a members only feature. You may be interested in a tool called Google Friend Connect; here is a link to your tutorials: Google Friend Connect.
Hope this helps!

Inappropriate?well I have a member area....onli its for 10 members max and here is the link to get it http://www.authpro.com/ or make a forum and add it to you pages like me http://solecompany.yolasite.com/forum...
I’m happy

Thanks for the links Srdjan. -
I'm going to try that for my site right now -
Inappropriate?Grt Grt idea!!
Love Yola...and cant wait for this new feature...!!
What are the other features y'll planning to include soon!!?? -
Inappropriate?Hi Steven,
You can add members to you site using Google Friend connect. See this link for more detail: http://www.yola.com/tutorials/google-...
We have just released some new styles and some other features, you can check them out on this thread: http://getsatisfaction.com/yola/topic...
-
Inappropriate?hi,
about the mebership thing i have gone to this page http://www.yola.com/tutorials/google-... and i wnet to the google friend connect but it goes to the gmail.com login. is that right?? -
Hi Smithy,
Can you tell me from what place you are being sent to gmail.com? Have you been able to go through the tutorial, at which place are you unable to proceed any further?
Emmy -
go to the link that i poseted earlier and go to google friends connect. -
Inappropriate?there is 1 thing about this membership thing that u want yola to make, 1 yola will have to make a form like (for example: username, password, e-mail, comfirm e-mail etc...) and then yola will have to get this<form>
First name:
<input name="username" type="text" value="" />
Last name:
<input name="password" type="text" value="" />
<input type="submit" value="Submit" />
</form>
and then get a submit button. so there is a lot of work to do of making this feature possible and it will take quite a few months to do it!! -
Inappropriate? Are you considering making available this option?(I mean the full-fledged option,i.e,Member can choose their name and password?
-
This has been a popular request for some time, and it is certainly on our list of features we would like to develop. To help us out, can you tell us more about what you would use it for and how you would like it to function? I pass this feedback to our developers so it is certainly worth taking the time to let us know what your needs are. -
Maybe something like authpro.com instead Built-in, like a cgi script maybe? -
Inappropriate?i have members and i would like them to have their own login so i can keep the password protection to myself to use it for admin purposes .

hi adam,
the way that i do it is when u get a user sign up to your site, create a new e-mail address, and then go to yola and create a new account there. for example is some 1 wants a username like catsdogsuk and there password yola, then all u have to do it
1. create a hotmail, google or yahoo which ever 1 u perfruer
2. go to www.yola.com and then create a new account.
3. do what u have to do and then bobs ur uncole u r done!!
i hope tis helps!! -
Hi Adam,
At the moment it's not possible for users to have their own logins for your site. If you password protect your pages (this is a different password to your login one) then only members can view your site, but it is the same user name and password for everyone.
Please let me know if I have misunderstood your question. -
Inappropriate?hi ruth in above posts monigue said to suggest what they would like

Inappropriate?i have so many prob
1- can people join my site???
2- can people upload to the site aftar login??
I’m wondring
-
Hello Naruto,
At this time Yola does not have a members only feature, you might want to look into something like Google Friend Connect, possibly this will help.
It's also not possible to have people upload things to your site as everything that gets added to the site needs to be added from inside the Site Builder. You could always have people email you things and you could them on the site.
I hope this helps! -
Inappropriate?Still waiting......now that we are paying for pro it would be a great idea to add membership databases.... I mean at least let us upload our own databases.. saves you guys time doing it yourself. maybe have interologies free profile manage incorporate with this site. and maybe make some money from it. Yola it really isnt that hard. There are plenty of alternatives then yola actually doing themselves. Use a thrid party, agian Interology (jotform) profile manager. its easily customizable. its free, what more do you want. All you have to di is allow us to add it to site.
I’m unsure
-
yeah if they had the server to do it!! -
Allowing users to upload there own databases, would be something too complicated for Yola's target audience and this would go against what Yola's mission is. Just because you are able to create and edit databases, dosen't mean everyone can, therefore it wouldn't be viable for Yola to release something like this. -
Inappropriate?Minimia,
It is very unlikely for this to be added to Yola.
It really depends what kind of membership you will offer, Yola can't make every single type of membership type there is, For example a user starts a book store and wants users to be able to pay online and have a panel for shipping/payments etc, Yola isn't responsible for making a custom membership script for that.
However I'm sure they can add something universal that is configurable.
Also, One thing that can have membership is forums. (I believe some users have already integrated forums into their site. -
Inappropriate? To add onto this, this is how I think it should work:
-We get the option of creating a new page for accounts. When the page is created, the registration/profile/membership begins to work on the site.
-On the page, if you are not logged in, it shows a login form and a registration form. If you are logged in, it shows your profile (Avatar, username, email, interests, the little stuff) and allows you to change them.
-Make 3 settings for each page on the site: Public, Password Protected, or Account Required, the latter requiring someone to login to view the page. If they are not logged in and they try to access the page, it will redirect them to the page noted in the bullet above this one.
-Throughout the site, if you're logged in, the top-right corner will have "[insert username here] | Log Out | Profile". Log Out will refresh the page, but you will be logged out, and Profile will redirect you to the page noted 2 bullets above. If you're not logged in, "Log In/Register" will appear instead, and it'll be one link that redirects to the page noted 2 bullets above.
These are just my ideas. :P
I’m suggesting
