When did you publish your site? It can take up to three months for Google to index your site. I doubt the problem you refer to has anything to do with your metatags. One thing you can do is submit your site to Google. Here's how:

To submit your site for inclusion in Google's index of sites, just go to http://www.google.com/addurl/ .

All you have to do there is type in your full URL and hit the "Add URL" button.

Then you just wait for Google's crawler to get to your site, which they do on a continuous basis, but they'd don't guarantee when it will happen.

The other thing you can do is to add keywords to each of your pages by typing them into the "Description" field in the properties sidebar for each page. When you are done, republish your site.

The most important thing you can do to increase your ranking with the search engines is to get other sites to link to you. So email related sites with content related to yours and ask them to link to you. It also helps to have a link page with links to other relevant sites.

Which Google service are you using that requires you to add an HTML file or meta tag? We are aware of this problem and we are working on an extra field in the properties sidebar that will allow you to add a meta tag so that you can verify your site.

In the meantime I suggest Google Analytics, as they allow you to add the verification code anywhere on your page, and you can do this by pasting the code into the HTML widget. Drop an HTML widget at the bottom of each page you want to track, paste the code over the default tags in the editor and when you are done, republish your site. Your site will be verified with Google Analytics and you can log in to your Analytics account to get all sorts of great information about the traffic to your site.

Please bear with us while we add the ability to insert meta tags. This feature is coming soon!

Hopefully the ability to verify your site with Google Webmaster will be available in a few weeks.

If you are concerned about getting more hits on your site, the most important thing you can do is to get more inbound links to your site - other sites that link to you. Here is the advice Google gives on the subject: http://www.google.com/support/webmast...

Please keep in mind that generating traffic is a process that requires a long term commitment on your part. You have already made huge progress by creating great looking websites. You have even managed to get your sites indexed. Adding meta tags can be useful, but nothing is as important to your online success as links from quality referring sites. This is something you can work on while we work on the meta tag issue and I assure you that it will be worth the effort!

I have some definite news on the meta tag issue for everyone who is interested. This has been scheduled for our current release cycle which is due to go live on or around the 9th of June. After this date you will be able to verify your site with Google Webmaster.

Hi annoyer707,

After you sign up for a Google Webmaster account and type in your URL, here are the steps you should follow:
1) Select the meta tag verification option. Here is an example of what you will see:

2) Copy only the long number you see between the quotation marks.
3) In SynthaSite, click on the properties sidebar and paste that code in the specially designated "Google Webmaster" field. Do this for every page of your site that you want Google to track.
4) Republish your site and check back with Google Webmaster to make sure that it has been verified
