Can you tell us your website URL? There are many things that we could possibly suggest but I think that it is good for an independent test of access.

Inappropriate?If you type http:// followed by your site name directly into the top of your browser and press enter, your site should appear. Your site won't appear in any search engines for quite a while - It may be a few weeks.
Have you submittted your site to google using webmasters tools?

Yes, Marky gave some good information there. Possibly you are trying to use the search box to get your site. Until your site has been indexed you will need to use the browser window to get to your site.
