Share your Promotion Methods?

As for myself, I plan on using a website called CafeMom to promote my website in the beginning stages. It's a website for moms, and is HUGE.

I also plan on using google, hopefully that works to my advantage, and trading some advertising spots with other sites related to mine.

I also have a few mom friends who are getting interested in it, so I am already starting word-of-mouth. With this economy, I was thinking about promotion cards I can slip into people's mailboxes as well. :D

My experience was to begin with Search Engine Optimisation procedures outlined in the knowledge books by Yola. Found commentaries by other successful users invaluable especially people like Bengo, John and others.

Tracking programs were the next thing I looked at and found that a very useful aid in looking at all sorts of things. Particularly popular pages, search engine arrivals and successful keywords. The other aspect of this analysis was the people who were coming in from other web-sites.

Established links with the web-masters of these other web-sites and that had a great result. participation on forums relevant to the topic and left links if acceptable. Otherwise occasional full name of the website if the URL wasn't accepted.

Noticed that the most popular sites wrt numbers of visitors were those paying for advertising. Didn't go that route but made links with these people.

The next thing was a blog. Initially this was for primary information. Blogs are amazing because people read blogs and don't seem to read standard web-pages. Later mixed it with announcements of new web-site additions and also placed the same info on various boards around. Now most of the blog addition is announcements. The new material is placed inside the web-pages. Occasionally produce equivalent material for a web-board. Share material to other websites to use with permission.

Addition of fresh material at least once per week and often up to three times per week.

It's fairly standard stuff as it seems. Some of it was coincidental some have followed guideline publications.

Hi Alicia, I also use Cafemom to promote my site. I also use an outside blog on blogger.com, I do local advertising, use eBay and also am getting advertising for my cars. Google hasnt helped me very much so far so I have to promote myself. I will be watching this thread also

I use twitter and stumbleUpon but I only started them so I don't know how their working out!

And since they've been on those sites other sites have been adding my listings,
like .blogspots etc.

Promotion isn't that big of a hassle, Its easy if you do it in the right way.
My stats climbed high. And i got accpeted by a advertising company named
"UnderDog Media" i love them because they pay per view. Not clicks.
