my site is coming up as unverified on the google search enginee, how do i correct this it tells me to place a code in the root folder in order to allow it to verify , how do i acess the root folder

Inappropriate?according to google web master my site is veryified and running ok, its when you do a google search it comes up with a little question mark by website, i thought it was the webmaster at first but it isnt, anyone encountered these question marks on their searches ?

Inappropriate?right i have an update on my little problem, it is my norton sercurity that is not verifying my website, norton have asked me to put a code in my root folder so norton can check my site, does any one know how to go about doing this thanks dennis

Unfortunately the Norton Verification process requires you to upload a file into the root directory of your site which is not possible with Yola. What you can do is put in a support request to Norton asking them to institute another form of verification besides uploading a file; possibly this is something they will implement in the future. I am having the same problem. I find it staggering that Yola are washing there hands on the subject. When users see that a Yola created site are not registered as safe will they want to use this Company to create a Website. I would have thought this is a problem for Yola to solve! My site does not look attractive at the moment. Yola what are you going to do about it? PWF -
I don't see Yola "washing their hands on the subject." Kershnee is simply admitting, quite correctly, that we do not currently have a way to upload a file to the root directory. Since this is the verification method required by Norton Safe Web we don't have a solution right now. We have brought this requirement to the attention of our developers so that they are aware that customers have this need and can look into making provision for it. I really would like to simply solve this right away but none of us have the ability to just change the way Yola works or persuade another company to change their policies. Apart from asking our developers to find a way to address this requirement, is there anything else you would like me to do? Let me know, and if it is at all within the scope of my abilities I will certainly do it!

Inappropriate?I have GoDaddy and the same problem. Can't access root directory. I pasted the auth code as a custom meta tag and then asked Norton to do a "manual" or something like that search and got the check. I can't remember how I got hold of them tho. I'm trying to do it for another site I have.

I'm sick of hearing this "relove you issue" stuff. You discuss "'issues" you don't solve them. It is a "PROBLEM" and you "SOLVE PROBLEMS". This is all George Orwell's Newspeak from 1984. Getting verified by Norton on ANY site that you cannot past the code in your root dir is an absolute pain in the a**. I am going to buy software that I OWN my site on and quit freaking around with this. I SPEND MORE TIME TRYING TO GET HOLD OF SOME TECH DUDE THAN I DO WORKING. IT IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. What should take 3 minutes takes 10 HOURS.

I am a bit mystified at this comment. I have reread this thread over and over and I can't find anywhere where this is referred to as an "issue". There is the original question posed by Dennis (he chose to frame it as a question, rather than a problem) and then I see Kershnee frankly admitting to not having a solution and apologizing for this. I am very familiar with the critique of referring to "problems" as "issues" as a way of trivializing them, I just can't see where that was done on this thread? Please point it out to me if I overlooked it.

See my response to Kershnee of Yola above. My view is this is a problem for Yola to resolve, they have had my money, but my site with this ? mark on it does not look attractive to potential clients!

I can't understand what you are talking about. Are you referring to the 'not verified by Norton AntiVirus' in search engines, or your overall appearance and design of your own website?
If you are referring to the design of your website, that is totally your own doing. You designed the site, it is up to you to decide how to make it look attractive to potential customers.
Your reply kinda sounds as if you are thinking that by paying Yola (for a domain or pro package) that you expect that they create your site and design it for you. Yola dosen't do this. If you want someone to do this check out the Yola Experts program where you can get an expert to help design your site.
Can you tell us what you mean?
