Inappropriate? It can take a couple of months to start showing up on Google... maybe more. I show if you google my name, but not my keywords, and I've been up for almost 3 months.
Check out my site's "links" page and go to "directory submitter" and download the free program. Lots of great inbound links can be had in a very short time.
Also Google the type of work you want to get, (I did orlando graphic designers, and up came "freelencedesigners.com" / "topdesignfirms.com" / "designfirms.org" / "bestoftheweb" and several others) and look for sites that show up that are classifieds / directories in nature and get listed on them also. (Kudzu.com is another good one that shows up, and an ad on http://www.craigslist.org is a good start)
A trick I learned from Bengo here on this forum is to put a description above your link when ever you post it somewhere, like this..
orlando florida graphic designer Guido Graphics
http://guidographics.synthasite.com
There are a few other threads on SEO here in Get Satisfaction, Bengo's is a good one. http://getsatisfaction.com/SynthaSite...
Hope this helps you some,
Peace,
Guido

Nice answer Guido. Thank you! -
my pleasure as always, signorina Monique! -
Hi Ive tried to do the submitter thing but dont know what to do - I ve got it on my desktop - what next -
It's been a while... let me open mine and refresh on it and ill post back then -
once you download it, double click to open and install it if you haven't already.
top right of page - click add project.
give it a name - site submissin 1 / or site name - whatever you want.
click next.
complete all the personal info.
make a standard sign in and pass word. make it unique so the various site will accept it, and not that it will already be taken... like the name of your site.
that section is basically a form filler and will use that info so you don't have to type it for each directory.
click next.
url= http://your site name.com
catagory=computers I would guess.(as you do a few, you'll see a common category and can edit the "project" info, or choose for each one as stated below)
You'll probably want to choose the category for each site, as they vary greatly.
start with the list of sites - double click them one by one, when it appears, click on submit link / submit site.
the program will now auto fill with the info you entered undr "project"
confirm the catagory / sub catagory.
add any anti spam codes that might be there.
click agree if its there.
click submit.
If the link requires a recip link, I skip it. Too many outbound links will hurt your ranking in Google.
play with it a little and you'll get the hang of it. -
Inappropriate?Word of advice on Craigslist.....Lots of scammers...I just had one send me a fake check for $1450.00.They really go after the fact that many on craigslist have little or no business experience and take things at face value.Having said that it is still a good place to list items and they show up on search if you put your link in the ad....Just be careful and insist people do business in a correct manner or pass on the deal.
-
I always insist on local deals paying in cash. All others with pay pal... good point. -
Inappropriate?Hi Everyone -especially Guido and Monique - Thanks so much for your help I will follow it to the letter
Thanks again -
Your most welcome. I'll check out your site again in a few days and see how you're doing. Happy widgetting! -
P.S... I noticed all the ads from google. I don't know what they pay you to place them, but it seems like it's unneeded competition. Those links take people away from your site and they could then possibly buy a laptop somewhere else... unless you get credit for the referral and sale on the other sites, I would think it's detrimental to your own cause - to make your own sales.
I think I saw Ed from honeybear post something about a list that would keep particular ads off your site???? Contact him through his site's email... he's very helpful. http://honeybearplayhomes.synthasite.... (or post to this forum, I'm sure he'll see it.)
