Why won't my site publish to the internet?
I published my site www.chezkockenlinks.com over 1 day ago and its still not on the internet. I'm not sure what the problem is. This is my first time creating a website and I'm not sure how long it should take.

Inappropriate?Hi Kevin,
May I ask a few obvious questions first and please don't feel I'm patronising you. Simply going through the list.
Check that in fact you have published your site. For that you need to have clicked the update button and followed the directions.
Now if you haven't seen your site on a Google Search or it hasn't come up when you type the URL into a Google search, this means simply that it hasn't been indexed as yet.
If it doesn't come up when you type your URL into the browser URL bar there is a problem. :)
I can see your URL :) I will also check it out for you
Indexing can take up to three months on the outside but by far the vast majority are seeing their sites indexed within a few days to a couple of weeks. Occassionally it has been reported that sites aren't successfully indexed at all. I've never come across one though.
Goodluck, Kevin.
I’m confident

I have published my site because it's on my sites list. but whenever i enter it on the browser bar it doesn't come up. -
Inappropriate? If you registered your domain with another registrar other than yola, More than likely it's got something to do with directing the provider you registered your domain with to yola. here's a link to more info about this http://www.yola.com/tutorials/publishing-your-site-on-your-own-domain

Inappropriate?Hi Kevin,
I think your website name is:
http://www.chezkockenlinks.synthasite... and not http://www.chezkockenlinks.com ?
The first site has been indexed so that means it has been successfully crawled and is on the Google Index.
Thehttp://www.chezkockenlinks.com/ site is not indexed.
May I ask if you have bought a domain?

I didn't buy a domain because i already had one -
if you already have one, that means you bought it? -
no i'm not sure what i did but i got the domain free and set it as the domain for the site i made on yola -
Can you tell us where this domain came from? We need to find the registrar to enable various pointers to be directed at Yolas servers. -
Thanks for helping i actually got my site running now. i republished it and that seemed to do the trick. :) -
Inappropriate?OK.
I guess my question is really were you wanting to publish your site as www.chezkochenlinks.com? If so this has not been done.
We can see that you have successfully published your site to the sub-domain: chezkochenlinks.synthasite.com
-
Inappropriate? Its actually spelt kocken you spelt it kochen im not sure if that has any affect because i followed the link and it said the page could not be displayed.
I’m confused
-
Inappropriate?yes i do want to publish my site as www.chezkockenlinks.com
-
Inappropriate?OK Thanks for staying with me Kevin. I have a couple more questions for you then I think all will be clear to go ahead.
Did you buy the domain from Yola?
Have you used this domain previously?
Apologies for the misspelling. I had used it correctly initially but screwed it subsequently -
i did not buy the domain. i'm not sure what i did but i got it for free a couple days ago. i didn't use it for anything else. -
Inappropriate?OK. I suggest that you send an email to support@yola.com
Tell them the name of the domain and they will give you directions for pointing you site to yola servers.
-
Inappropriate?Just one more question how long does it normally take for your site to be published on the internet?
-
After you publish it may take upto three months but typically a few days. -
Inappropriate? Thanks for all your help on this one Peter! Kevin, you will need to find out if your domain name provider will allow you to point your domain name towards us by editing the A Record. For your site to work with Yola and for us to host you will need to edit this portion.
I have done a public lookup on that domain and am not seeing that it is registered. Can you check with your registrar to see if your domain has been registered and if they are able to edit the A Record.
Please let us know and we can assist further.
Kind Regards,
Emmy

I checked and i got the domain from a website called Angelfire and the name was free. I don't know how to contact them to see if they can transfer it to yola. Just two questions.
How long does it take to publish your site on the internet and
if i were to buy a new domain from yola how much would it cost?
thanks -
I believe Peter was referring to how long it takes for a site to be indexed by the search engines which can take up to a few months. The publishing which is getting your site live is pretty quick, under 24 hours. -
You're right. Sorry. -
Inappropriate?Hi Kevin,
If you were to buy a domain from Yola it would cost $19.95 per year and it would be published very quickly. If you choose to buy a domain from us you can click on the Publish Site button and you will be taken through the steps to purchase a domain name. If you have all ready published your site to a subdomain you can click on Update Site and will be given the option to upgrade to a custom domain.
If you have any further questions please let us know.

Inappropriate?Anglefire is part of Lycos and what you got for free with them was maybe a sub domain.
