.com rules over .co.uk, but what if you dont want international hits, just local ones

my website is not easily found if you put in the.------.co.uk address . Google comes up .com listings and asks did you mean -----.co.uk?. why does it not come up with .co.uk first

.com rules over .co.uk but not for localised search.

In essence you want your site to be optimised for local SEO. You don't want someone from China looking for your local business in the UK because it wont be the site he is looking for and will navigate away quickly and it will be detrimental to your SEO.

I would suggest a local domain for your local business and then work on your SEO for localised results.
