I don't understand the fee structure. I recently paid a fee to have my domain name registered with Yola. I bought the domain name a year ago with another host. What is "free"??

Hosting is free at Yola along with a sub domain....Domains will always have a cost unless they are included as part of a package. Many companies do include a domain as part of their offering but very few if any offer free hosting at the service level Yola does.If you look at the ones that say they offer free hosting it is almost always very limited bandwidth.

I'm afraid that explanation is beyond my comprehension! I guess I just don't speak the language...FREE is free, unless it's not free, then you gotta pay for it, nickle-dime stuff. I changed from the old host 'cause I didn't speak their language, and after a year of frustration gave up on them.

Yola is quite specific with what is free, which includes a sub-domain name under the (.yolasite.com) domain. Yola also offers the ability to Host the site for free. There is no where you will find the ability to get a domain name for free, unless it is considered a ddns (dynamic domain name system).

Also just because you purchased that domain a year ago does not mean its a once of purchase. Domains have to be renewed annually, also there are costs when transferring a purchased domain name.

Thanks for your assistance. I'm still a Luddite who thinks "free" metans no charge. Silly me!!
I have no idea what you are telling me, other than "free" doesn't mean no charge.

Hello,

Thanks to John and Jeremy for their input on this thread! As they both have mentioned, we offer basic sitebuilding and hosting free of charge. We even offer you a free subdomain name so that you can publish your site to the Internet and start getting visitors.

If you are interested, you have the opportunity to purchase a custom Yola domain (ex: www.mysite.com) domain email (ex: info@mysite.com) and Yola Silver or Yola Premier to help with creating a standout website. You can check out more information here: Yola Pricing.

Certainly let us know if you need further clarification.

Marketing goobledy-gook,
"opportunity to purchase," bah-humbug!!!
Why don't you just say right up front, "this is our pricing" and belay the obfuscation? Truth in advertising is a whole lot more palatable, you know!!!

OK, let's shift gears. Tell me, please, what is it that I paid for? What I paid was admittedly not a whole lot of money, but I don't know what I got for that money. Was it a "custom domain" I paid for? What do I have to show for that expenditure?
And I still don't know what "free account, free hosting, and free subdomain" might mean.
We just don't speak the same language!

When looking at your payments history, I see that you transferred your domain to Yola and added on one year of domain service. When you are ready, simply press the green "Publish to the Web" button while in the sitebuilder and you will be able to publish your site to this custom domain.

A free account means that you have been able to visit www.yola.com and create an account that allows you to access and design a website using our sitebuilder free of charge.

Free hosting means that Yola will allow you to publish your site online. We give you space on our server so that you can publish your site to the Internet.

A free subdomain would look something like this: http://mysite.yolasite.com. We offer our customers the opportunity to publish their site to a subdomain free of charge. They would replace the 'mysite' in the example provided with a name of their choice.

Please let us know if you need further assistance.
