"Paypal Payments Advanced" not a valid payment method?

I have a Paypal Premier account, which enables additional features that allow the payment to look like they are on my web site, rather than so obviously getting transferred away from my site to Palpal. The service costs extra from Paypal above the standard account and requires the use of "Paypal Payments Advanced" in the setup of your site as the preferred payment method. But Yola's payment configuration screen for the online cart only shows "Payment Payments Standard" as an option. Is the "advanced" Paypal not supported ?

Hi Lazarus,

May I ask if you are referring to the Yola/Ecwid Online Store or the PayPal widgets?

The Online Store does not have this available as a payment method at this time. You can have it enabled by contacting them and arranging a Custom or Hosted solution: http://www.ecwid.com/connect/custom-p...

The PayPal widget store is likely to have the information on their own website.

Well, in that case, I think I may just have to throw in the towel on this one and move my site to another provider who does support this. I have struggled to get this site up and running on Yola, and I finally have it coded, and I'm completely stuck on the cart. I don't think it's reasonable to have to pay $200 - $700 or more to Yola just to support PAYPAL of all things on my site, on top of the $$ I'm already shelling out for an online store. I'm not sure what I'm actually paying for if I can't use an imbedded cart offering from one of the largest online payments processors.

Hello Lazarus

I can really understand that this must be frustrating for you. Just to be sure: As I understand your post above, it's important for you that your customers aren't redirected to the PayPal website, but stay on your website, is that correct? I know that PayPal Express meets this closest. Yola also uses it. When you pay, there will be a small login window for PayPal that pops up, and you don't really lose touch to the site where you make your purchase. After payment you will be redirected to the site where you bought things, but as you are prompted through small PayPal windows all the time, you don't really leave the site where you buy. This option is supported by Yola Online Store. Not sure if that would be an option for you.

I'm sorry if that is not what you want, and that we don't have better news for you at this stage.

Yes, I want to maintain the site experience, and not transfer them to Paypal in that fashion. If they select Paypal as the method I would be OK with that as it would make sense to the user, but if they select credit or echeck this is not appropriate and they should stay on my page. I am specifically trying to avoid that login screen, even though they can click on a link to move past it without logigng in. The experience is awkward and confusing. Per your comment on Paypal Express, the user must already be a Paypal Express user, and not everyone is (back to my first comment). A lot of my clientele is barely web-experienced to begin with. I want to provide a simple checkout experience that doesn't look like it's trying to sign them up for Paypal. That's why I spend extra $$ for the Paypal Premier Account.

I would think in order to retain and attract Paypal merchants, Yola is going to need to catch up with their current account offerings and support this. I'm happy to stick around if Yola wants to work with me on it as a test (but I'm not paying for Yola to fund development which will undoubtedly turn into a standard offering). If not, I will probably need to switch to Cashie or another of Paypal's more advanced partners. Otherwise, I'm just not sure I'm getting the value out of paying for features I need and can't use.
