G'day Alex,

Probably best to say why you want that man. The whole system would fall over if it was simply removed. :)

I doubt if they can consider it as is but they may suggest a workaround if you give more info.

Wish you luck Alex.

Hello Alex,
I'm sorry but the .php cannot be removed from the end of the url. Can you tell us a bit more about why you want to do this.

This is a product of the page names and not from your domain name. Every Synthasite user's website urls will end in .php no matter where their domain name was obtained from. If you look at any Synthasite website you will see that every internal page ends with the .php. There isn't a way to remove this. I'm sorry I don't have another option for you.

but do you know of a free domain that lets you use the yoursite.com/yourpage. because the co.nr, TK, and co.cc domains dont let you use the forward slash.

if there isnt one thenits okay.

thanks

Hi Alex,
You can get a free domain, but your pages will still look as such: comedy-classics.co.cc/mypage.php.

Monique is correct, you can't get a free .com (top level) domain. I thought you were referring to a free domain in general such as a free subdomain like Synthasite offers. I think we're going in circles here lol! Is this all sorted out now, do you have further questions?

so a domain name which allows forward slash's is a Top Level Domain.

what i need is a free domain like co.cc or tk that lets you use forward slash's because when enter in

http://comedy-classics.tk

it takes me to my homepage
when i enter

http://comedy-classics.tk/login
or
http://comedy-classics.tk/login.php

it still takes me to my homepage. im getting a bit confusung :s

Hello Alex,
I see that all of your pages are showing the same url. I suspect that there is some type of java script redirect in your frame, but am not sure. I have requested an engineer to look at this and we will get back to you when we are more sure of what is happening.

Could be that Alex has his domain set to masked forward as the same URL for all the pages is often an end result of the masking...

it does appear your site is set up incorrectly - i think its because its .tk - these are free domains, correct? These free domains are pointed to nameservers, which redirect HTTP traffic via HTML frames to a specified web page. I think its becasue its set up like framed fowarding, you have issues with browsers.

Buying a .com/.net/.org etc would fix it as you could actually point it at synthasite.

i just noticed - you dont even need to use the .php it works with or without it - a link without takes you to the page and it does not show in the ad bar - check it out - http://hexham.info/butchers or even this works http://hexhaminfo.synthasite.com/butc...

This means i can link all my pages without it and it will disappear.(alex)
so the whole question is pointless - someone should have realsied this earlier in the thread. :)

Hey Lee

I think that you have a little issue with your site as I have checked in FF and Opera and I see that your alphabetized links on all your a-z pages show only the following

A
ACCOUNTANTS
AGRICULTURE
ANTIQUES
ARCHITECTS
ART GALLERIES & FRAMING
ARTS & CRAFTS
B
BAKERIES
BANKS & BUILDING SOCIETIES

After Banks it is blank...

Also, in Opera your Butchers page is showing the following... Did you place the flash in a separate two column widget like I had recommended? That might keep the flash banner ad from shifting to the right like it does in browsers other than FF

As well for your knowledge this same URL issue occurs for users with .com/.net/.org also and it may be any number of issues causing it and simply purchasing one of these domains does not guarantee you a quick fix.

thanks Ed. The site is undeconstruction for a day or 2 i should have really made a underconstruction index, too late!- That opera thing is beyond me, ive tried everything.
ICorrect all the TLD's you mention will have the same issues when set in framed forwarding mode, however because the .tk is a free domain you have no control over the DNS, this is what i was trying to get across. Thanks again for letting me know about my site, its nice to have people looking out for you. Lee.

Alex did you get an answer on your last post lost in this thread?

"well is there a free doamain that allows this? co.cc and co.nr dont. and i dont know of any other free domains."

Sorry for this but it's a very multi facet thread.

oooiee,

I wondered if that was the case. Apologies as I had noticed this hours ago but overlooked it.

Because your site doesn't have the suffix .php in it, only the page names do, you can set up your site to be one of these without any problems. I have used .tk and that works quite well.

One of my sites is: http://sribuaban.synthasite.com
and an alias I have set up is http://sribuabankom.tk

I didn't have to do anything other than follow the instructions.

of course.

your site name is: digitaldiscmakers.synthasite.com

Not digitaldiscmakers.synthasite.com.php

Your home page is probably: digitaldiscmakers.synthasite.com/index.php

So the .php aspect is irrelevant for the sake of registering it with one of the free domain providers.

Have I explained that Alex or is there something else I need to clarify?

digitaldiscmakers.com is available from Synthasite or digitaldiscmakers.info is also avilable and its only £1 for the first year. If you want your site to work proffesionally your going to have to invest a small amount of cash - Even .com's are only 20 bucks a year - Lee.

I am sorry but I don't understand what you are asking? I understand the thread that you refer to but not this question.
If you wouldn't mind expanding it, I think it would be clear..
