Hi, I have created a .swf on the index page that takes a bit long to load itself when the website loads all its contents in the "index" page. Is there a way (like using HTML edit) to correct this matter? Since, due to the fact that the .swf loads very slowly, the website looks kind of dull when glanced at first. Please help with my company website www.beachtravelmaldives.com (created from Yola.com)

you have numerous flash files? perhaps cut down on the amount.
The flash loaded instantly for me (but i do have good speed connection)

Is the sound of the ocean coming from 1 of the flash files? Its nice, not too intrusive, but still i would love the option of turning it off, if your working close to others you would need to hit mute to make it be quiet. Sound is a big issue in sites, you have to remember most people browse at work (while pretending to do real work) :)

hope this helps

PS the player code is fine its just the overall amount which i think is creating a slow load time.

Lee.

Thank you Lee :-) I really appreciate your guidance. By the way, the sound of the ocean is not coming from any other but from its own .swf file I created on the right bottom. Can put to mute by clicking once on the speaker button.

Wish the country I stay provides good speed internet connection :-) Thanks alot!

hi there,

It seems the one swf file you are loading is very large (more than 2megs in size). This would explain the slow loading times.

The same concept applies to flash (swf) files as with images on the web. You should aim for the smallest possible file size.

I can tell you the file names of the large files if you need.

Hope this helps.
Regards,
Sean

Hi Sean,
Well, do you know a way to minimize the size, keeping the width and the height the same for .swf file? Thanks alot for the quick support :-)

hey Mr Solih,

The easiest way would be to start by optimizing the images you use inside the flash file. There are a few online tools that can help you with this : http://tools.dynamicdrive.com/imageop... and http://www.imageoptimizer.net/Pages/H... are examples.

That should help quite a lot with the speed. Also try combining flash files into one where possible. This will minimize the amount of file look-ups the browser will need to do.

Let me know if you have any more questions.
