I'm a little happy today. The website has just cracked the 1000 unique visitors per day for the first time with 60 people on line currently. The local time is 16:10.

I'm stunned!

Thanks Alex. I'm really glad of your comment It means a lot to me.
I've just heard that the exams planned for today by the ministry have been deferred 'till May so it may continue at high daily hits for a while yet.

It's a great sense of personal satisfaction and shows that Yola can truly cross into non-western spheres using non-English language and non-Roman text easily. I'm really happy to have reached this point. .

anushka: I do not recommend that Peter link to your site as he could be penalized by the search engines for linking to a site that is not related to his own.

Well thank you. I am trying to post podcasts, and more....My goal is not to get more visitors just to spread the word... The main visitors i get is from Facebook,twitter,bebo, and myspace....

Like the site, i would like to read it all but its all in Thai. I will read it later with Translate.

Monique. Thank you.

This site is quite unique in it's style. Thai sites tend to be in your face. Everything on the opening page. It all moves, it makes sounds and it's enjoyable. It's a true culture diffrence. had a lot of reservation from readers at first. Now getting affirmation and more. The ministry is interested in seminars based on this model. Thai site builders are asking me questions but still not quite game to break the Thai English barrier. They can see that Thai works. The little English is within their understanding. They're shy when it comes to asking questions and very shy of their written English. I've encouraged some to use the translator but they laugh because it uses a very formal language to get accurate meanings across. Not the common vernacular. I'm sure this will change in time.

I mentioned website cultural differences: These are real. The reason i have the widgets on the font page is because the Thai people really want them. They want to know that they are part of a group. Numbers give it to them. They love a background music playing immediately, they love gadgets and interaction they love the toy factor. I think this has been a steep learning curve for me. I had to resist the multicolour approach and the choo-choo train banners and the miaowing kittens that if you went near they would cry out. I respect it but I had to move a bit.

I went to formality. familiar and respected. I have tried to put in vignettes of local culture with images, poetry but not music.( I'm still getting my head around Thai pop music. it will happen.)

I've mentioned my happiness in this work and this really stems from two things. The effort (including failures), the support, and the brilliance of people with and at Yola. There really is little doubt.

I hope that Yola can break into the South east asia world. I really think it's language and there's quite a few. The passion and creativity is here. cambodia would be the place as it has a high level or English literacy and Business/Computer graduates, driving motor cycles for maybe $10/ week, these people are very motivated and creative. I would really love to see Yola in there.

So much excitement. thanks Monique again.

Lao Khao.(lit: alcohol rice). It's disgusting but you enjoy it if you can keep it down. I've even experienced naive falang speaking fluent Thai during a session :)
The additives ( methanol, formaldehyde, ethylene Glycol) are a bit vicious during the recovery :(

I went through half a dozen RSS feeders before settling
on my current one. http://widgets.cc/rss/scrollbox/

A lot of the .xml feed material out there contains images, but
I'm yet to find a reader that displays them.

If you come across one let me know, Ok !!

This search gizmo is particularly good. Your site must be indexed by Google first though otherwise it can't find the stuff on your site.
<!--
<form method="get" action="http://www.google.com/search">

<div style="border:0px solid black;padding:4px;width:20em;">
<table border="0" cellpadding="0">
<tr><td>
<input type="text" name="q" size="25"
maxlength="255" value="" />
<input type="submit" value="Google Search" /></td></tr>
<tr><td align="center" style="font-size:75%">
<input type="checkbox" name="sitesearch"
value="yoursite.com" checked /> yoursite<br />
</td></tr></table>
</div>

</form>
-->

Maybe two days but I had the same domain name with Google Pages Creator. The Yola built site was a move over in December and I kept the same domain. I think the first crawl on the Yola based site was coincidentally within hours of transferring.

3 weeks is to long for me to wait. This one seems to work everytime.

Go to: http://www.sitemapwriter.com/notify.php.
Enter your URL e.g. h ttp://yoursitehere.synthasite.com/sitemap.xml
and click on "submit". Your site will now be submitted to Google,
Yahoo, Ask, Moreover and Live.

I've been crawled in under 4 days using the above method (for all my sites)

This one comes courtesy Ed.

I've submitted a sitemap on webmasters and google DID do something with it... google knows how many urls are in the sitemap... but still has not indexed any pages... that's with the 47 urls google found in my sitemap on April 13th

My http://www.helderberg.cc/ site, I submitted with webmaster first.

I then submitted it with http://www.sitemapwriter.com/notify.php
and was crawled the next day. I've submitted 6 sites using this method
and have never waited more than 4 days.

Luck maybe... but it has worked for me every time. You can't do any harm.....give it a try.

my site HAS BEEN crawled twice so far and yet no pages have been indexed... I just submitted to sitemapwriter... but if it's been crawled by google, I don't see what the difference will be submitting to a third party source which will in turn submit it to google... which HAS crawled my site TWICE!
