What kind of browser language is Yahoo, Google, and Similar sites built on?

And I'm not referring to just the search but everything these sites offer. I know it's more than html.

Also, are there any website creators (yes, I'm referring to competition and sorry bout that) that is free and uses other than html as yola does?

Note: I will still use Yola for my main site (youcanneverbetoosmart.com) but I have an idea for another site, I'm thinking is not possible with yola.

Hey Donald,

like time no chat eh?

As far as search engines, they use many, many, many different languages. Like;

Of course html
CSS
PHP
ASP
C++
Java
JSP
and there are a few more I'm sure. But those are the main ones they look for in job listings.

From my understanding, html as Yola uses is one of the most restricting languages compared to the ones you listed above. I just want to give something else a test drive... do you know of anything (besides html) which can be done for free? Mostly everything besides html costs money to get started with. I don't want to pay to test drive something.

What exactly are you trying to do? Are you trying to make your own search engine? If so, you will need to know those languages and you won't be able to use Yola lol

Well, not exactly a search engine... I just have a few ideas I'd like to combine. Like with Yahoo... all yahoo is... is one person's ideas combined into one site... plus a search engine. I could care less about the search engine. But I know things are not easy with Yola... although my encyclopedia will remain with Yola, I have other ideas... like allowing membership logins for one.... and others. I don't feel comfortable saying my ideas cause I have them stolen all the time. I'm probably the reason some websites get rich! LOL

Well just for a login system, all you need is PHP and MySQL.

Here is a good list of what you may be looking for: www.free-webhosts.com
though of course, I'm not encouraging an exodus from Yola :)

This has to be the best free one out there. http://php-login-script.com/
I'm using it at present on another site. Like Dan says though, you need to use PHP and MySQL. If you want a membership feature you will have to learn it I'm afraid.
