Hi again !

Wanted to find out how easy/hard it would be for me place a site search engine on my site that allows visitors to find a specific company on my site for example if they where looking for play.com they could enter in the search box and find all the links in the different areas of my site not externally ?
The site search that i currently have on my site only enables you to find keywords such as dvds on specific companies.
I know i would prob have to pay for this but does anyone know any links or how i would go about this ?
I know this is going ti take alot of work but hoping it will make my site more user friendly and sticky.

Hi there Ethan

Good to see you on the forums tonight. Hey you can use Google Adsense if you are a member

1) On the Adsense Setup page click the "AdSense for Search" test link.
2) Make sure that the "Search Type" section is "Only sites I select"
3) In the "Selected sites" box list all your websites URL's one per line
4) Make any other adjustments you wish
5) Click the "Continue" button
6) Adjust the look, feel and size
7) Click "Continue"
8) Choose whether you would like your search results to open on Google or within your site.
9) Specify where you want the ads to be placed in relation to search results.
10) Adjust color
11) Click "Continue"
12) Agree to the terms by checking the box
13) Name your search engine
14) Click "Submit and get code"
15) In the "Search Box Code" place the cursor on the text and click once to highlight
16) Right click once
17) click "copy"
18) Open your site editor and paste the code snippet into a HTML widget.
19) Update

That should do it and you will be able to have your visitors use the search feature to check your sites content.

Happy sit building and I can't wait to try it out in your site...;)

Ethan

Yeah I just now did the convert in my head and realized that my lady friend in Ukraine is just getting ready for work now so yeah I was just busy answering to think...

It's 1:50 AM here and almost time for bed. I am done with my site and all but ad rotation and some tips, tricks and programs on my links page I can let it out to pasture...

At least I will have more time to answer questions huh...;)

To answer your question. "Oh and if i do it via adsense does it cost every time someone uses it then ?"

It costs nothing to you or them to use this search feature... Google gets the advert on the search box.

Oh Ethan by the way you should place as much descriptive text as a description for a particular link on your site. Include the name of the site in as many ways as you feel someone will type it as well as what the site is about so that when someone types "Synthasite" it takes them to "Synthasite.com" or like when they type in "website builder" it takes them to "Synthasite is the best free website builder you will ever find" I hope you get the idea where I am going with this...

I'm thinkin about sleep...

Once you have Adsense crawl your site it automatically scans your pages on a semi regular basis to update their ads. So to answer your question... No you do not need to do any more then you have in that regard.
