If you have set up shipping in your Paypal Profile and want to set a specific amount as the shipping basis for all your buttons, you need to:
1. Sign into your PayPal - http://www.paypal.com account.
2. Click the "My account" tab
3. Click the "Profile" link (below the merchant services tab)
4. in the "Selling Preferences" column click the "Set Up Shipping Calculations" link
5. Click either the "Domestic" or "International" start button
6. Select currency and states you ship to and click "Continue" (You can set up zones with a different amount per zone or states)
7. (On next page) Set Up Domestic Shipping Methods (You can choose to calculate shipping based on Order Amount, Weight, or Quantity)
8. Click the "Continue" button
9. Verify information and click "Save shipping methods"
Here's how to edit your button to include shipping:
1. Sign into your PayPal - http://www.paypal.com account.
2. Click the "Merchant services" tab in the horizontal menu.
3. Click the "Buy Now Button" or the "Add to Cart Button".
4. Choose button type and enter name and payment details.
5. In Paypal step 1 (Choose button type and enter payment details) for the "Shipping" section select from "Use settings saved in your PayPal profile" (steps 1-9 from above) or "Use specific amount" field (type your desired shipping amount)
6. When done editing click "Create Button".
7. In the next window and in the (Website) code box click the "Select Code".
8. Right click on the highlighted text and click "Copy".
9. Open your site editor and drag an HTML widget where you need it.
10. In the HTML widget paste the code.
11. Then Update your site.
Note that the buttons do not have the amount shown and you will have to add this to a text widget with item name and description. The Paypal window which opens when the button is clicked will show the price to reflect the shipping charges.
Happy site building
Ed

You would need to add the cost of shipping to the price in the description field or include it in the total cost of your product. We are hoping to add more functionality (like this one) to the PayPal widgets in the near future.
An alternative is to create your buttons and customize the shipping rates on PayPal.com. For information on how to add shipping to your products, please view PayPal's Website Payments Standard Integration Guide PDF (5.8mb PDF). Once you've customized your settings on PayPal, you can copy the HTML embed code provided and add it to your site using the HTML widget.

has anyone actually tested these solutions? The reason I ask is because I had a similar problem. I wanted to add a drop down list, however creating a button in paypal and adding it to my site in an HTML widget did not work. I can only assume this is because it is not actually intergrated into yolas paypal widget.
If there is a definate solution I would be very happy to hear about it.
Thanks
Kenny

This function is for PayPal buttons which cannot be integrated into Yola's Online catalog.
However, you can add the PayPal button to your site via the HTML Widget. Can you please let us know what you see when you try to do this?

I finally worked out how to add the drop down box so that it does do the calculation, or rather I do the calculation and enter the amount to be charged into the drop down, this seems a very long winded way of doing things, and one that would mean making seperate buttons for every page of my store :-(
The other problem that I have is the positioning of the HTML widget, this test page will explain better
http://sitebuilder.yola.com/sites/Dec...
as you can see it looks rather ridiculous with two add to cart buttons and two view cart buttons for each product, do you know of a work around or even some way to move the HTML widget to a more pleasing position?
I have the horrible feeling that I'm going to have to re-arrange the layout of the whole shop in order to get something that at least looks semi professional

I do understand that the button only has to be made once, but by default the paypal widget inserts the view cart button top and bottom each time it is used.
I can see that you have managed to place it only once on each page of your site John (beautiful furniture by the way) but how did you mange this? Even if I put all my products on one long scrolling page (which I dont want to do) by default the paypal widget would still insert view cart both top and bottom.
I would like to have just one view cart button and one drop down box on each page, so that my customers can surf from page to page adding things as they go......exactly the way john seems to have done.
Thanks
Kenny

you are definately right about the difference between the UK paypal and the USA version. Did you use the widget on yola to create your shop?

You would have to change your Paypal Account Language settings for this to change.
You can do it by going to "edit profile" and then under "Account Information" you will see "Language preference"
I hope this helps.

Can you please share the link to your site so we can take a look at what mean? It sounds like maybe you made shipping a separate item, but I would like to take a look to be sure I understand.

Try buying your own product and then cancel at the end before the finalization. You should be able to test it yourself quite easily...

For each product "YOU" will have to calculate shipping for each option. Ensure that you have the proper product weight when you use the online calculator for your post service. I assume you are in the UK.
1. Sign into your PayPal account.
2. Click the "Merchant services" tab in the horizontal menu.
3. Click the "Buy Now Button" or the "Add to Cart Button".
4. Choose button type and enter name and payment details.
5. Check the "Add drop-down menu with price/option" box half-way down the page.
6. Add the types of delivery you offer in the "Menu option name" box and the product price with the shipping fee included for the product in the price box.
7. Tick "Use specific amount" in the shipping section and in the price box place a zero.
8. Click "Done".
9. When done editing click "Create Button".
10. In the next window and in the (Website) code box click the "Select Code".
11. Right click on the highlighted text and click "Copy".
12. Open your site editor and drag an HTML Widget where you need it.
13. In the HTML Widget paste the code.
14. Then republish your site.
You can use the second drop down for product color or sizes if you like.
You could include something like; "For international shipping contact customer service" with a link to your email.
Don't forget step 7
Good luck. ;)

The downside is that they can select the wrong amount, but at least if they spot a mistake or change their mind about the quantity they want to purchase, they can easily remove the item from their Cart and select another shipping option.
I'll have to carefully check each purchase to make sure they've paid the right amount of postage.
I was assuming you could use PayPal to store the various shipping options according to address, quantity etc. like (I'm assuming) eBay, but on PayPal UK all you can do is to get it to automatically add on a fixed shipping amount depending on the order amount, or a percentage of the final shipping amount. I'm not sure this kind of shipping calculation is useful to individual traders or small businesses, especially if they are shippiing worldwide! It seems PayPal USA had (or still has) a more sensible shipping calculator.
I haven't gone live with my 'online store' yet, but it should be live by 26 September 2011 - my website is www.thomasswiftproductions.co.uk - check the Online Store page.

I got some good feedback on it from another site and tried the free then paid version because it was really simple to use. The home page it builds is basic and needs to be replaced, but the catalogue and product pages are awesome.
Great for the price.
