Add some festive snow to your website with one easy piece of code and no images... A Honey Bear Playhomes Tip...

Do you want some festive snow to fall on your page and don't want to mess around with images and or coding yourself?

It is as simple as:

1) Open your site builder
2) Drag an HTML widget onto your page and paste the following code between the <!-- and the --> into it and click "OK" (PS The encoder did not work for this one ;)

<!--

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://honeybearplayhomes.com/resourc...> <script type="text/javascript"> snowStorm.snowColor = '#99ccff'; // blue-ish snow!? </script>

-->

3) Preview or update your site to see the snow drop, move according to your mouse and collect at the bottom of the page.

Soooo easy... It adds a little touch of the holidays to any site... If you use it leave your URL here so that we all may see it on your website ;) It seems to work best on sites of a darker color so I added a way to change the color of the flakes by changing the hex value in the code to suit the color you like. You can choose a different color here

Happy site building
Ed

If you happen to use the snow a link back to Honey Bear Playhomes on your website would be nice. You can see the snow in action here...

Hmm... it's because GS abbreviates the URL.
Why dont you just change your site name to honey.com
Then the encoder will work.
honeybearplayhomes.com is just so long man ;-)

Hi guys, you can wrap urls in <!-- and --> so it wont abbreviate it! Like this:

http://www.honeybearplayhomes.com/hon...

<!--

http://www.honeybearplayhomes.com/hon...

-->

See? When you wrap it, it doesn't abbreviate it so you can see the whole entire url.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Ed...I was looking for a little something to add to what I was already planning.....I like the way the snow accumulates at the bottom of the screen....All it needs is a Honey Bear driving a snowplow across the bottom once in awhile.

Nice 1 ed - does it build up at the bottom till you can no longer see the page? - if it continues snowing for much longer you'llt need to write another script called the web snow plow.

I like it but it makes the bottom bar of my browser flash on and off,

Lee.

Hey Ed! I added it to my site: http://www.santas-workshop.tk/ It is great, thanks for it!

But, I added in some extra effects! If you click on Preferences, you can change the wind direction (the way the snow is blowing!) and you can turn the snow on and off! Also, I turned off that thing where the snow follows the mouse, so it would blow in it's own way like regular snow would. I think you guys will like it! :) If you want any codes for this, let me know! Also I can add in an option to change the snow's color too! JavaScript rocks!

Sincerely,
Nathan

That's super Nathan and the ability for your visitor to make those changes really adds a great touch... I quite like the mouseover shivering content. Cool

Why not simply post how you did it so that others can as well. I have found that most would rather have the "how to's" in front of them instead of asking.

Please don't spam the forums. Natasha, I realize that as the marketing rep for the company it is your job to seek out new avenues for advancement but in this forum this is considered spam as you ask those Yola members reading this to sign up to your company site to then get free snow on their websites in two days.

While your snow is pretty cool, The Yola forum members can use a wide assortment of snow that I have provided with no need to sign up for anything or wait 2 days to get it either in this thread or the following one:.
