Adding a Search Box to a website

I would like to add a Search Box to a website to search ONLY my site. I have read through the various posts on this subject but they all seem to be over 5 years old. Does anyone have recent experience of adding a Search Box?  It doesn't necessarily have to be free. Please note that the site we wish to use the Search Box on is NOT an ecommerce site.

I use a Google site-search, which just happens to be free, and is very efficient and unintrusive.
