Adding alternative text made easy!

I am pretty sure to add alternative text in a picture that was copied into a text widget isn't as easy as going to the properties section. However, I've noticed on a lot of my pictures I have, if you open the html of a text widget and look through the code, you can even use ctrl+f, search for "alt". If there is not alternative text the picture MIGHT have alt in the code followed by empty quotations " "... adding alt text is as easy as filling in the empty quotations.

Hey Donald,
Thanks for adding that!

Here are some step by step instructions for adding alt text to images added using a text widget:

1) Click the HTML button at the end of the text editing toolbar.

2) A dialog box will open up with the HTML for your text widget. Look for the code for your image. It will start with <!--<image scr = "

3) Edit the code so that it looks like this:

<!--<img src="filename.gif" alt="Alternative description goes here">-->

Add your alt text in place of the portion between the quotes in bold.

4) When you are done, click "ok". Your images will then have an alt attribute.

use something that can be considered keywords or searched a lot. I often get hits from image search results... I believe this is in part from the alternative text. Adding appropriate alt text to EVERY picture can help bring more traffic.

about the same time tomorrow... I'll give the update on how much traffic I've acquired from image search related results. With so many different pictures on my site, the chances of finding my site through an image search is obviously more than someone with three pictures.
