I have a domain registered through yola but I can't see how to add email addresses for it. One help page mentions an email tab on My Yola, but there isn't one on mine.

You can either purchase email services from Yola for your domain, or use a service like Google Apps.

Hi Roger Lee,

It sounds as though you have signed up through a partnership such as Get Your Business Online or Get British Business Online, is that correct?

Yola Mail is not a feature available to you if you have signed up through a partnership. You can, however, create a custom domain email using Google Apps. Please take a peek at the tutorial we have created here: Setting up your email with Google Apps.

Please let us know if you struggle with this, Roger. Thanks!

Thanks both,
I'll let you know when I've had a go. Yes I signed up through GBBO, but I didn't realise that would limit my options. Perhaps I should re-think? Are there other limitations?
Thanks again.

Hello Roger Lee,

I believe you will be quite happy with GBBO. This actually unleashes a wealth of potential! While you are limited to using Google Apps, you receive a free .co.uk domain, Google Adwords credits, a deeply discounted price should you choose to upgrade to the Silver package. The Silver package enables you access to unlimited Premium styles, account-level removal of the Yola Link, ability to create up to 25 site, and many more!

Thank you. That sounds good.
Now I've spent a frustrating two hours trying to get started with googleapps, but getting nowhere. It says I have to verify by uploading their download file to my domain. I've done the download but I can't find anywhere how to do the upload. Please point me in the right direction.

Hi Roger,

Please take a moment to review the steps below for verifying your Google Apps. If you are unable to process, please share the exact step so that we can assist you further if needed.

1. Go to: Google Apps.
2. Click on "Get Started".
3. Enter your domain name and click "Get Started".
4. Follow through all of the pages to enter in the necessary information to set up your account, clicking "Next" on each page.
5. On the "Setup" page, click on "Verify Domain Ownership" and then click "Next" to begin.
6. On the next page, select the tab called "Alternate methods".
7. Select "Add a DNS record to your domain's configuration", and from the drop-down box select "Other".
8. Google is in the process of changing the way they do domain verification, so you will either receive a TXT record or a CNAME.
a) The TXT record will look something like this:
google-site-verification=3gx2xVdwXE6QxTqQWNVfv7zOpWvEjGhMPeLbACv16yQ.
b) The CNAME will look something like this:
3gx2xVdwXE6QxTqQWNVfv7zOpWvEjGhMPeLbACv16yQ.
9. Select the TXT record or CNAME, right-click and copy it.
10. Log into your Yola account and make sure you are on the My Yola page.
11. Click on "Domains" and, next to the domain you are using for your email address, click on "Advanced settings".
12. Click on "Set up email for your domain" and choose the "Configure your email" option.
13. Click on "Gmail (Google apps)", paste the TXT record or CNAME into the field that says "Google App Set-up (CName)", and click on "Submit". Please note: Although the field says CNAME, it will work with a TXT record.

Once you have done this, you can then go back to the Google Apps page where you see your TXT record and click "Verify".

If you see any form of an error message, please share that with us so that we can help troubleshoot further. Thanks, Roger. I hope this helps!

Thanks Brianna.
I seem to have verified OK now, even though the steps were not much like either the gmail recommended upload route or your method described above. Anyway, I have registered admin@my_domain_name, and can log in.
I have also registered roger@my_domain_name, but I can't see how to access it or set a login/password for it. I don't think I've ever been so confused! I am usually competent with web-based stuff.
Is there somewhere I can see an overview of the whole process?
Help!

Hi Roger,

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately we cannot assist much more beyond providing steps for verifying Google Apps as it is a complete separate platform then Yola. You are welcome to see our Google Apps tutorial here: Setting up your email with Google Apps.

It would be a great idea to visit the Google Apps Support forum here as the Google reps are of course much more familiar with the products they offer! Good Luck with this, Roger! Please let us know how it goes for you.
