I have 2 questions:

1. How do I get my logo icon to appear in the browser tab window like Yola's appears when you go to Yola.com?

2. I am using the popit menu from the yolacodes site. The links in linkset [0] work fine but the ones in linkset[1] is not working. I looked at the code and it seems to be correct. The site url is Next Steps Career Solutions. Any help?

Hi Trina

While the site builder does have a favicon (logo in the browser) generator built into the side bar it does not create a cross browser favicon.

To make one that is cross browser compatible simply;

1) Go to http://tools.dynamicdrive.com/favicon/
2) Browse your computer for the image that you want as your favicon
3) Click the "Create Icon" button
4) Then after it generates your favicon click the "Download favicon" button
5) Save it to your computer
6) Upload it to your file manager
7) Take the following code and place it in an HTML widget

<link rel="shortcut icon" href="resources/favicon.ico">

8) Update your site to view

As to your menu I will let Littleus of Boomer answer that one... ;)

Happy site building

Hi Trina

To add a favicon to your site:
1. Click on the Properties sidebar.
2. You will see a "Favorites Icon" field (the second last box from the top). Click on the browse button to the right of the box to browse your desktop or file manager for an image to upload.
3. To see what your favicon will look like, save and preview your page.

Please note that Internet Explorer doesn't allow favicons to be displayed next to your URL or on the tab of the window. The favicon will be displayed if the site is bookmarked and in your Favourites folder.

Ed - one of the Yola champs, describes how to create a cross-browser favicon:

1) Upload your favicon to your file manager

Edit the following code as follows...
1) You just need to substitute "YOURSITEHERE" in the code below with your site name
2) Chage the "favicon" to your favicon name in the code
3) Highlight the code between the <!-- & --> and copy
4) Open a HTML widget on your page in your editor and paste into it the code you have created
5) Update your site

<!--
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="http://YOURSITEHERE.synthasite.com/re...>
-->

Now.. for the pop-it menu.

It would appear that that you did not completely copy the codes. There are two sets of codes that you need to copy. It seems that the first of codes are incomplete. This may explain why you're having difficulty with your code.

Can you please try copying the codes again? Then, email me at support@yola.com Attn: Littleus and I will help you from there.

Thanks Littleus. I figured out the issue. The codes were in correctly. The problem was that I didn't input the links correctly. The sites are published to http://www.next... and in the html component I originally put http://next...

It works now, thanks a bunch! Now onto this cross-browser favicon.

Good job Trina! I'm confident that you will be able to figure out the cross-browser favicon.

Littleus,

I did not publish to a synthasite subdomain but rather to my own domain. I am guessing my script replacing "YOURSITEHERE.synthasite.com" would be a) "http://www.nextstepscareer.com/resour..." or b) do I drop the www so it's "http://nextstepscareer.com/resources/...?
Which is correct?

I'm working in IE so I wouldn't be able to tell if it's really working. Also, what I can't understand is why the Yola favicon shows in the browser next to its URL and I have not bookmarked that site. I don't necessarily follow the reasoning why after adding the html widget and uploading the .ico file it wouldn't. There seems to be some difference but I'm not educated enough in these savvy techy things as you are :).

Trina all you need to do is follow my steps at the very beginning of this thread...

You do not need to add your full URL at all but simply;

resources/favicon.ico

That's all you need and if your favicon is in your resources folder it will find it regardless the published domain or sub-domain.

Step 7 bypasses the need to use the built in favicon generator in the site builder sidebar which is only seen in Firefox. The steps I outlined above will make the favicon appear regardless if you have bookmarked or not and in most all browsers.

To ensure that it works properly I would recommend that you cancel the sidebar favicon and code that the sidebar produced as the code could interfere with the cross browser one.

For test you can see it on one of my sites here... http://honeybearplayhomes.com

Glad you got the favicon thing all sorted out...

I was bored and had 30 minutes to spare and needed to occupy my time doing something creative and this is what came of it.

To see it in the actual size just click on the image below...

Feel free to use it if you like ;) It should fit your style banner dimensions perfectly.
