After looking over your site I can't help but notice that you built your site with a site builder other than Synthasite. As this is a Synthasite website publishers forum your posting here seems a bit like self promotion of your site and as though you are looking to gain something from letting others here know of your site and as you are not a Synthasite user I wonder as to your motives for posting.

Your motives may very well be pure and I will give you the benefit of the doubt but please understand that this forum is for those who built their site using Synthasite.

Ed: we love the fact that you love SynthaSite, and we can certainly only give specific advice related to using our toolset. However, we also welcome anyone who wants to speak about website building, even if they use different software. There are general topics like SEO and design tips that site building enthusiasts could discuss productively, regardless of what software they use. As long as we don't get into arguments about whose software is best, and share relevant and helpful advice, I think we can all benefit from an open discussion. This is my opinion, but ultimately it is up to the community to decide what is appropriate to discuss here. Thank you for your diplomatic approach to this issue, and for your consistent contribution to this discussion.

Ed I totally feel you. but if you visited the other site you'd notice I have nothing to gain there. I am a member here and I just wanted to share a few ways of getting your Synthasite a little more action like I have done with mine already. This is not to solicit anyone or thing that's the problem with people now they're fast to speak and slow to listen. I don't aphreciate you bashing me and assuming i'm not a member here because i am. So if this topic isn't of your interest move on please. And while you visited the other site did you check the daily inspiration part. I'm not selling the word of God or did you see the freebie forum? i'm not selling free stuff and did you see all the children from other contries dying of Aids and other illnesses? i'm not asking you for a dime for them that is another whole site but you could send them well wishes free. So now that i've vented. God bless you and P.S I love you and there's nothing you can do about it.

Hi Tashasmith

Thank you for sharing your experience of building your own website. I can see that you have put a lot of effort into your site. There might be some people interested in advertising on your site, but I recommend only advertising services that are related to what your site is about as this will help your search engine rankings. Having a lot of unrelated links on your site can hurt the way search engines rank your site.

now I feel terrible for posting what others as well as reps had said in earlier posts about this only being a Synthasite forum.

But as to the reason I chose to post as I did was because as a rule when I see "make money online" in any header I get a little taken aback and feel that there may be a motive there and that someone may simply be looking for more affiliates to sign up under them.

But if you have no issue Monique then I guess I will step aside and simply say hello and welcome to the forum

No need to feel bad. We are learning and evolving together and the rules of the community need to be negotiated. My opinion is only one among many and by no means definitive or final. I might even change my mind. About making money online: People might use SynthaSite or another site builder to try to make money online, and the level of success will depend on the value that they offer. I think websites that have plenty of good, focused content that offer specific information to meet a defined need are a great deal more successful than sites that are broad and general. Hence my advice on keeping a tight focus on what your site is about and making sure that all the content is relevant and related.

Ed,

Hmm, I too thought this was a venue for Synthasite users to promote their creations, discuss issues, and or give Synthasite kudos. Guess I was wrong.

just like Monique so eloquently put it... "we can certainly only give specific advice related to using our toolset. Maybe we will convert some of them through everybody's well built and great sites

Thanks for all the love i recieved here my main focus is not to make money from referrals Ed those sites are nice but not part of the topic it's totally up to the visitor to enter those programs and I have quite a few referrals or as we call downlines but thats not what i'm seeking i'm looking to network and promote positive sites. Just like with your site I admire those playhouses they're nice, lovely and creative so why not leave a brief description on what you do, ideas, where they came from and how people can get them.. Advertise them free Ed that's all I offered those other programs are only for people interested but are not being sold. God Bless You and thanks Monique. I'm sorry if I offended anyone

As you hopefully saw on my site in the About me page my little blue fishy...;) I am Christian and had my late Father had his way when I was 10 I would be a Priest now.

I consider myself to be a most caring and helpful person to those who may need it. My comments were by no means meant to offend but merely to question and protect the collective here. I am a protective individual and always have been that way. If that's a flaw then it's one that has served me and thousands of those who I have helped in my past well. I believe in donating to charities and helping not for profits and paying for gas for those stranded on the side road. I am for donating to feed children in far off lands as well as here at home.

I spent much time on your site looking at the links you have there and even spent time on those links reading everything. I read like crazy... Especially the fine print and I read contracts in as much detail as I can (and most of the legal pages out there loose a person in the first ten sentences because that's all a person can read without going nuts ;)) Then I went to read my affiliate contracts with those companies that I use and one clause which rings true in many of them deals with any affiliates using a Paid-to-Click or traffic exchange service or having it on their site or using one being in breach of contract and loose out on their affiliate status. Unless a person reads through this fine print they will never know until their site is reviewed by the company which they thought they were in good standings with and run the risk of immediate revocation of affiliate privileges. I know that through site checks they monitor such activity in detail because they are being self protective. I have had 1 site check in the last month that I know of. Anyway in a nutshell I would rather err on the side of protection then not at all and as my affiliate management companies find traffic exchange or Paid-to-click sites something that has immediate termination clauses I choose to stay away from them.

For your examination I have included the Prohibited uses clause in Googles terms and conditions. I add this merely because i wish those readers and self publishers here to understand that if they use Adsense and many other services that have just such a clause they are held to certain legal responsibilities and standards.

https://www.google.com/adsense/locali...

5. Prohibited Uses. You shall not, and shall not authorize or encourage any third party to: (i) directly or indirectly generate queries, Referral Events, or impressions of or clicks on any Ad, Link, Search Result, or Referral Button (including without limitation by clicking on “play” for any video Ad) through any automated, deceptive, fraudulent or other invalid means, including but not limited to through repeated manual clicks, the use of robots or other automated query tools and/or computer generated search requests,

If a person is not an affiliate with any company and wishes to use any of the links on your page then more power to them. I wish them a fruitful experience.

It looks like you have spent quite a bit of time working on your site and it shows. You never know I may use some of the coupons you have there.

Anyway, I wish you well and a very good night... P.S. You really should sign up for synthasite and try out all the great features and ease of use. I think that you will be most impressed with the product that they have to offer and I know that with your experience building a site you have a leg up on most and can produce a wonderful site. Give it a try...

I know we sometimes get on each other's nerves or misunderstand each other. However, everyone should have a fair chance to express themselves without attacking others. I think Ed's post is long because he is trying to explain himself and he has tried to be helpful and polite. If you are annoyed by it, please ignore it and move on, rather than responding in a threatening and insulting tone. I have tried to keep the discussion as open and welcoming as possible, but this thread is now taking a turn for the worse. I hope you will accept both the welcome and the caution that has been extended to you here.

(Monique said) "I think Ed's post is long because he is trying to explain himself and he has tried to be helpful and polite." (Tasha knows it's long because he's trying to identify/ find fault in my work)"I think we can all benefit from an open discussion. This is my opinion, but ultimately it is up to the community to decide what is appropriate to discuss here" (These are Moniques words). (Now these are mine) But the moral to my story is....... what is ED insinuating? If he's offering advice i've always been the one to adhere but with such sarcasm wow.... thats not cool at all.....don't you know i'm human and we all fall short no one is perfect but instead of attempting to tear me down from the beginning how about helping me sweetie (Monique saved me then from the gillitine) why not try to help? You are or seem like that's what you like to do so why not help? I'm not that old and I do have a life besides my online ventures so i'm busy and make mistakes but i'm not trying to get over i'm wonderful financially GREAT sweetheart GOOGLE my name there's a face that comes with it. I thought I could build a free website and go from there. I didn't want to use money from my parents I thought I could do it alone. I felt the people out here that was going through some difficult times would understand but all i've seen was arrogant Bums...honestly. I tried and my Mom and Dad told me this would happen when I tried to help people now I understand...I'm sorry this will never happen again Ever in my life.
P.S Thanks For The Support

Tasha, as this is an open forum and we all are here to learn from others as well as ask for help when we run into issues or difficulties I personally am grateful to Ed for him pointing out the guidelines that Google has in place.

I had thought of using a service such as those you offer on your site however after reading that Google and Synthasite both can terminate my contract I am thankful that he pointed out what he did before I made a huge mistake.

Thanks Ed for looking out for us...

Tashasmith I am sorry that you feel as you do and really feel for your frustration and yes even pain at what you felt was a personal attack on you. I don't want you to leave us here and I want you to build a great site using the products offered and see why we all love it here too. I wish you all the fortune and success in the world and if there is anything you ever need to make a great site and I can help you through it simply ask and i will go out of my way to research it like I so often do when someone has a problem. I can Google and read fast and know which site have the answers to many important questions. I share mostly every tip, trick and program I have ever found that will benefit the collective family of the group. I do this because I care for everyone and of course now I have grown very fond of your spunky personality and quick wittedness. Of course I Googled you after you said to and other than an actress with your name I found one Tasha Smith that went to OSU. I lived 5 miles away from campus 12 years ago and drove my then girlfriend to and from her Psychology classes 5 days a week while I cared for her disabled son and ran a business at the same time. I saw two Youtube videos with whom I can only assume was you on the mat doing things that were simply amazing and awesome. Such talent and skill you have to do all those routines. You are able to do that which 95% of the population cannot and should be applauded for your accomplishments.

Please know that everything I have ever said, done or shared here in the forums has been to help the collective group and not just one individual. I had several days ago posted the following below as another resource by which fellow website publishers could use to earn a great deal of income if utilized correctly. Please read through it and maybe even go on their website and read their literature. The company is the largest of its kind in America and if you become an affiliate you can earn money worldwide. It's more than just a banner ad site Tasha because certain companies actually allow you to place their product on your site as a kind of online storefront. I feel that with your drive and determination this may be well suited to your personal objectives.

(Tasha the following I posted elsewhere but as you asked for help I didn't want you to have to look somewhere else for it when I could have just as easily posted it here)

Probably the best by far in affiliate networks to join. Free to join, no referrals so NOBODY (me included) is going to make any money off your signing up. Over a thousand customers and literally thousands and thousands of professional ads, banners, products and so much more... High commissions and easy as can be to implement on your site. All in all a fabulous service that if you wish to offer high quality ads and earn a from purchases then please do take a look at this.

Commission Junction is the largest affiliate network in North America, powering almost 50% of the top 500 web retailers affiliate marketing programs and operates worldwide. Along with being the world's largest Affiliate Network, Commission Junction also promotes their Search Marketing services and their media services. Their corporate headquarters is located in Santa Barbara, California. Commission Junction has also offices in the UK, Germany, France and Sweden.

Commission Junction has over 1,500 customers including Buy.com, Home Depot, Go Daddy, Circuit City, Experian and Yahoo!. You will be utterly amazed...

https://www.cj.com/

To see that the link has no identifiers here it is in its simplest form ( cj.com )

Don't get rid of Adsense if you choose to implement this program because I think that it's a great combination of services to offer your viewers. Oh as well you get to pick the companies ads to place on your site ;))) Just make sure that you sign up as a publisher

P.S. I was completely sincere when I asked you to stay and share in our community as well as build a fabulous new website to showcase some new products and my offer to help you in your and each of our aspirations of financial freedom and success is still there. I will if you so desire assist you in any problem that I can and know that I wish you all the best in everything your life has to offer.

And Tasha please know this and believe me when I say that nothing that I said was sarcastic in the least. As I said before I was merely educating my friends and family here in the forum and trying to make them as well informed as I can. I dearly hope that you will stay and join our family here. As to your question above "how about helping me sweetie" Tasha, all you need to do is look through the forum and my help along with hundreds of others is there to read and learn from.

Tasha I put it to you... What can I do for you??? All you need do is ask...

and Guido you are most welcome.

Goodnight world it's 3am on the West coast but stayin up late to post this was worth it I only hope that you Tasha understand that although I am 6 foot 7 inches tall and 225lbs I am not a mean giant and like you have feelings and from your recent posts I don't wish you to be sad, frustrated or angry. There is an old song I remember called "Don't worry be happy" Can you and I start over and begin anew?

Hi Tasha

Ed has replied with an even LONGER post ;-) But please take the time to read it - he is really trying to help. If you are serious about your site, and want to learn, then the advice of other people involved in the same sort of activity can be very valuable. If the advice is sound you have everything to gain by using it. If not, or if you are unsure, you can always continue to learn, ask questions. Use what works, and abandon what doesn't.

Right now you can do it by signing up for a Paypal account and using a widget from Widgetbox. However, when we release the new Paypal shopping cart this will be a whole lot easier. If you are in a hurry I can tell you how to add a Paypal button to your site now. But if you are prepared to wait a few weeks you can use the new widget.

You can add PayPal widgets by using the Widgetbox Gallery, this is how:
1. Drag and drop a Widgetbox Gallery widget onto your page
2. A dialogue box will open, search for 'paypal'
3. Choose the paypal button that you would like to use on your site
4. Edit your settings to customise the widget
5. Click on the green 'Get Widget' button and it will be saved and added to your page
6. Save and preview your page to view the widget.

You would repeat this procedure for as many items as you want to sell -- in other words, if you have 20 items, you'll need 20 'Add to Cart' buttons. You'll also need to make at least one 'View Cart' button somewhere, so that customers will be able to see the items ordered, their total bill, and give them a chance to continue shopping or proceed to checkout. Again, this code is supplied by PayPal website, click on the Learn How PayPal works link to learn more, and follow their instructions to get started.
