All Reciprocal Links Are Not Created Equal

I have been getting this a lot lately and thought I would share. As always check your link partners once in awhile to make sure your link has not been moved. Always check out where a link is being offered in the first place.....Many are doing this trick and I am sure it is nothing new. You link in good faith and put their link on your site.....Your link ends up on some obscure worthless directory....This is done so their site looks like it has many more one way links that have a higher value in the eyes of Google.

Good call. It's always a smart idea to audit (or have someone audit) all the links on your site and the links pointing to your site every couple of months.

This will catch all sorts of broken links, which can occur for a whole variety of reasons. People periodically redesign websites, so links can move, sometimes being buried (in good faith, or otherwise).

Of course, the closer the relationship and more frequent communication you have with partners who you exchange links with, the more prominent the link you'll get.
