had another look today, as the only solution i found used javascript- i was hoping to find a solution in html to avoid missing customers whose browsers prevented javascript from working, after a lot of head scratching i've come to the conclusion, that it's probably impossible in html and that my life would be a lot easier if i could convince everyone to ditch internet explorer! :D

: ). I've forgotten the proportion of people who have disabled scripts on their browser. I'll look it up and report back woz. I can honestly say that I have never considered it as a reason not to include scripts on my websites. (bad of me)

I'm no IE-phile either but it is noticeably improving particularly with the increased usage of Chrome and I think for the first time since when that IE now looks as if it has a minor share in the browser stakes?

Numbers of browsers with js disabled.

Looks as if it's a very small proportion .

Surprising results, i'd read somewhere that was as many as 1 in 10 (hence my reluctance re' javascript) glad it's a lot less, thanks Gop :)

Web-site related analysis reports are remarkably variable and even the Ideas put forward by Dr Nielssen often aren't reproducible. Like any research you really do need to look at a few experiment reports (which i didn't do) and if there are differences ideally establish why and really see if the conclusion is valid for our use. Lies, damned lies and statisitics
