After a lot of investigation i have found that @ 09/03/09 the best practice to add alternative content for flash objects is to use the code below, i hope this saves someone some time.

It is a way to add alt text and images to flash objects and a nice link to install a flash player.
It is important your site works for everyone who uses it, this code adds a picture if flash is not enabled and shows alternative text if the picture is unavailable, It also shows a link to install the required flash plugin.

You may have to play with its page placing for IE7 users, if it is not sorrounded by strict box borders it tends to move, this can be worked around by adding column and text box's if needed.

So heres the code. enjoy.

<!--
<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" id="myFlashContent" width="160" height="600">
<param name="movie" value="resources/YOURFILE.swf">

<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="resources/YOURFILE.swf" width="160" height="600">
<img src="resources/YOURPIC.JPG" alt="YOUR TEXT HERE">
<br>
<a href="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer">
<img src="http://www.adobe.com/images/shared/do..." alt="Get Adobe Flash player">
</a>
</object>

</object>
