Am trying to sell songs for 1.00$ per song. However, when customers buy 1 song, the email sent allows buyers to download the entire album.

My online store is supposed to my own individual music compositions for 1.00$ per song. However, when customers buy 1 song, the email confirmation of purchase has links for them to download *all* 8 songs in the album. How do I make sure that a purchase of 1 song means that customers will only get sent an email with 1 song to download? I tried to go into the "Settings" area of the "Online Store" tab to tweak the settings but to no avail. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Jack.

Hello Jack,

Add each song as an individual product and upload each track individually.

Then for the complete album you could  add this as a discrete product and upload the album as a single product.

Thank you so much Gop. I did upload the songs individually (I think) since they were each assigned individual sku numbers. Also, I checked my catalog and it shows songs separated into their own cells on the spreadsheet. Finally, email confirmations to my friends who are helping test the site by buying from it receive a confirmation email of the individual songs (that is, the purchase lists one song bought, not the whole album), yet get all the links to all the songs to download. My site is at ayuttaya.yolasite.com.

Hi Jack,

As a quick workaround you could set the limitation to a 1 try download. If you can give me a few hours I will hunt up the specifics adn see if others on the Ecwid forums have hit this issue and resolved it specifically. for albums.

I'm confident there will be a solution to this but don't know what it is at this time.

(Are you an Ayutthayan?)

Hi Gop, thank you for getting the details. I've been doing searches on this site but most are about how to use the mp3 widget, not selling mp3s. Ayuttaya is my registered pseudonym for my copyrighted music (it's named after a set of surreal 700 year old ruins in central Thailand, my geographical womb, prior to my arrival here in the USA).

I tried the 1 limitation setting, but didn't know whether it should be 1 for maximum or minimum download. I don't want to keep dropping a buck for all my failed attempts to get this to work, haha. Good karma to you and thanks once again.

You can save the transaction fees by turning on the PayPal sandbox.

(I live very close to Ayutthaya in an adjoining province. Last week made contact with a person, MD and historian, who was a descendant of one of the Royal Siam Court dancers taken to Amarapura at the sacking of Ayutthaya, now living retired in Mandalay. Very interesting connection and happy to share.)

That's super cool! I love areas outside the intense stimuli Bangkok offers, so I make my jaunts there as well. Yes, many court dancers were literally abducted from the Ayutthayan court after the city fell to the Burmese invaders in the late 1700s. To have one descended from a survivor is very poignant! Angkor, Ayutthaya, Sukothai, and Burma's Bagan (which I have yet to visit) are just the most surreal places. Thanks for the solidarity and the sandbox function!

A quick non-relevant note Gop: I forgot to note that my spouse is from Pathum Thani. Am sure you know where that is.

Hi Jack,

I checked your products and it looks like you have added all of your files to one product.  On other products, you have added no files.

All you need to do is delete the extra files from the first product, and then add each individual file to each individual product:

All you need to do is delete the extra files from the first product, and then add each individual file to each individual product:
  • Click any product to edit it, or create a new one.
  • Open the Files tab.
  • Click X to delete any files not associated with the product.
    • Or
  • Upload a file you want to sell.

I hope this helps. I've also sent you an email with this information and some screenshots, so please feel free to reply here or to the email if you need more help.

Kind regards,

Jen

Hi Jen,
Thank you so much, sorry for this delay. You and Gop, Jen, and Daniel are my superheros today. Everything seems to be working...a few more tweaks and it should be ready to go! Many thanks to you too Gop!

Thank you very much Gop. It has been a long road but finally it's done. More songs are on the way for next year. Thank you once again for your support.
