An idea.... need forum to post our sites for search engines!

I wish there was a place in this community for us to line a post to our website along with keywords. It seems that anything we type here will show up on search engines. Take any quote from one of these threads and google it,and in no time you'll, find it on google. Amazing, yet getting our own website to appear is sometimes nearly impossible. Any comments?

Hello Don. It actually isn't impossible. I got my site indexed by Google, if you search "nathans music studio" in Google my site will be the first link.

To get this to work first you need to add in a Page Title to each page, Keywords for each page, and a Description.

If you add all of this to your pages then your site might start appearing in Google search results.

Another tip is having a custom domain name.

You can get a custom domain by clicking here.

Here is more information on SEO. (Search Engine Optimization)

I hope this helps!

Thanks Nathan,
I've done all of that. When I click onto google Webmaster tools and search my site, it doesn't show any keywords, yet I've plastered them in my properties tab on yola. But yet, if I type in anything on this site, click and paste it to google in a day or two, it will pop up. Forget msn and yahoo for now, I"ve submitted my site to them. Emily in this community has given me ideas. The only one which works is typing in "Where can I get a massage in Essex Ontario?" and it will direct the person to another thread on here. Thanks again!

No problem... You can manually submit your site to Google by going to http://www.google.com/addurl and then type in your website's URL and it should index it by the next time Google indexes.

I hope your site gets in Google soon!

PS: I'm considering getting a .com for 17.95 per year.... do you think it helps?

Yeah, I think it does because 1) it makes your site more professional and 2) it makes Google look at it better, I guess, when you have a custom domain name and not a sub domain name.

I purchased a .com for my site. Then I went to http://websitegrader.com/ to get my site graded. Before I got the .com it graded 41. Now it grades 9. Don't ask me what changed other than my .com.
I finally added my site to kijiji and paid for a link, now my site appears on the google search engine, but first the viewer must click on the link to get the kijiji ad. Oh well, I'm getting there, lol.. I did add an idea thread to this forum in hopes that Yolasite will give us a forum column to add our sites for quick noticeability.

That would be a good idea, but this forum is powered by Get Satisfaction and it might be possible for Yola to do this but, I don't know. Let's see what an employee says about this.

Thanks,
Nathan

Unfortunately Get Satisfaction adds rel="nofollow" attribute to A tags so posting links here is worthless.

Finally it happened! Today I typed in 'massage essex ontario", and the new .com site appeared on google on the first page! I did resubmit the site a day ago with the new .com address, as well, I placed an ad on kijiji which I mentioned somewhere in these threads with the link going to the site. Now there's the official website showing on the search engine, plus the kijiji ad. I'm thrilled, so I'm thinking it's either one or all of the following:
1. backlinked from kijiji
2. a .com address
3. a link from this site from where I put it for people to view in a thread.

Now to work on yahoo and msn. This is as exciting as the first time you get your name in the telephone directory (okay, just kidding)!
