Another Commenting platform for your blog!

I just found another commenting platform that can be used with your blog. It's called "IntenseDebate". It's free to use! I've just installed this on my blog - if you like to see how it looks, you can view this at http://littleus.yolasite.com/our-journal. Click on the blog title post to see this comment feature.

To install in your blog, go to your blog manager, then click on settings.

Then, install the generic code from IntenseDebate into the box.

Hey littleus,

That is very cool, I really like it. I am going to check out their website. Do you like this better than Disqus, what do you think the pros and cons are of the two. Would you choose to use this one over Disqus?

Thanks,
Emmy

One thing I noticed that is a pretty cool feature - you receive emails whenever a person has commenting (this is pretty standard). What is cool though is that you can respond to the email and that response will come up on the comment board! You can also delete the comment by simply typing delete in the email and it will delete the comment!

Hey Emmy

From what I can see... I don't think you can customize this commenting platform. The customization is available but only if you have access to the blog stylesheet - which on Yola we do not.

However, that aside, I do think it's nifty in the sense that you can respond to the comments directly from your email and your response will show up in the commenting platform. That's pretty cool! I just like knowing there's another option available to offer to Yola users. =)

Guess what Emmy?! I just posted a link to Vinny's blog on another thread and I discovered that he used IntenseDebate for his commenting platform! = ) So, if he uses it.. it must be pretty good! =D

Sorry this isn't related to 'Intense Debate'. I think the html area in the blog manager (where you put your disqus code) is actually quiet a handy place for other stuff. eg. ShareThis, or rating of blog widgets. This could be interesting!

Yes Connor.. I agree! I'm starting to explore this now. It would be great to put up a thread with other stuff you could put into that area! Do you think you could do this as you seem to have already explored this? I think lots of people will find this to be handy. Also.. can you use the HTML area for more than 1 code at a time?

Hi Craig... thanks for letting me know! I was unaware of this. I'll have to look into this and see what's going on there.

Hi,

This is my site: www.geboortekracht.yolasite.com
I installed IntenseDebate, but am still wondering how I get the option to comment on blogs at the homepage, like I see on http://littleus.yolasite.com/our-jour...

Now people have to click on the blogpost before they see the option to comment, which I would like to change.

Does anyone have an idea?

Thanks!
Agna

Hi Agna - Sanja has embedded a Wordpress blog onto her site using iframes (I think) which means that she hasn't added comments using the Yola blog. I know there is a way to add the number of comments using Disqus but I'm not sure about IntenseDebate - would you like the Disqus steps?

Thanks Marije (are you Dutch by the way?),

I am disappointed :-( No one will click on a topic to see the commentbox, it is so not functional...
I also tried Disqus, but it has the same restrictions.

Anyone another idea?

A gna

Hello Agna

Marije is currently offline right now. I hope you don't mind me stepping in on her behalf. Marije is correct - I have used a different blogging platform with my site - which is why you're not able to set up your comments like I have done.

Yola offers a basic blogging platform. What I have done in the past, is drag over a text widget and created a message to my visitors to please click on the blog post to leave a comment.

I hope this workaround will work for you. Otherwise, if you're looking for something more advanced, you will need to use a different blogging platform.

Please let me know if you have further questions.

Hello raj - I'm not sure I understand what you mean by adding numbering - could you provide more information?
