Any plans for more professional-looking content?

Any plans for greater selection of professional-looking templates, add-ons, graphics, etc.
I see kids-play stuff, juvenile graphics, etc. It's great for those who want it, but how about sharper looking widgets and other content?

What about ability to further modify templates - graphic span/size, font face, color, size? How about better control of layout instead of cookie-cutter, inflexible look?

How about freedom of using own templates, mixing and matching?

All I hear: "Not at this time, but in the future..."

Well, we want it NOW.

I inquired about it back in May and nothing has changed. I see these questions asked
8 MONTHS AGO or even earlier!!

Why aren't you more responsive and active in improving your service? Doesn't your further success depend on it?

I sense a very, VERY blasé attitude.

Hi CL

We do our best to respond to every post! Sometimes it does take a little longer than 21 minutes if we are helping another customer at the time. It can also take longer if we are trying to give extra attention to something we regard as really important, as is the case with your post. But this certainly should not be seen as a lack of interest or concern.

I am not even going to try to defend the fact that we have only released three new styles in several months. I could also tell you about the work that is currently taking place in this area, but I am sure you would rather just see results. We are also aware that the customization options of our current styles are limited. This might be interpreted as a blasé attitude on our part and if we have given that impression we apologize for it. It is always a challenge to decide what features to develop when. We try to do the best we can with the resources at our disposal, but it is true that our development time has been devoted to other features in the last few months.

Having said that, we are full well aware that our future success depends on improved delivery in the quality, the variety and the customization options of our style library.

I hope some other people will share their views on this thread. I can assure you that all the employees at SynthaSite do take note, and strongly expressed needs of this nature do inform our development plans, even though it might not seem like that at the moment with regard to this particular aspect of our service.

In answer to your question: "Any plans for more professional content?" I can only say yes, we do have such plans and we are working hard to turn them into a reality.

As my father said when he was alive... "Sometimes you just have to make what you have work beyond its abilities"

In my opinion... I see Synthasite as a great resource with so much potential for expansion and growth. What we are given for FREE is a template. A blank canvas you might say. It is up to us and not Synthasite to paint a wonderful picture and make OUR sites wonderful. I used what I had at my disposal with Synthasites site builder and built the framework for my site. When I needed something unavailable I scoured the internet looking for something that would fit and or code to make the style fit my preferences. I made my sites unique with what I had and am quite pleased with the results and in general Synthasite... In the future I am sure that more amazing options will come available but until they do it is up to us the site builder to find what we need and then include it to our sites.

Is there something that maybe I can help you find to make your site better? I would love to help...

Ed

Here is a thread I posted about how to link your images and text in new windows.

http://getsatisfaction.com/SynthaSite...

And if you look at my Santa came a calling site you will notice I was able to customize the style quite well through HTML and I bet you can't tell the style by looking at it ;)))

As to the fonts offered... The fonts available in the site builder are the most common fonts found on the web today and if you were to use a font that is not on the majority of computers on those that don't have it there is the chance that it would not show up or look really bad. You can however change the color if you know the code and it just so happens that I have the list right here...

http://web.njit.edu/~kevin/rgb.txt.html

1) Highlight your text
2) Click the "HTML" button in the toolbar
3) Just before the text you will see something similar to the following

style="font-family: Comic Sans,Comic Sans MS; color: rgb(255, 0, 0);" size="5">YOUR TEXT IS HERE

Just change the values where it says (255, 0, 0) to the R;G;B Dec value in the link I gave you for the color you want.

the only difference between the codes they offer is 255;0;0 compared to how you need to enter it in the HTML code as 255, 0, 0

Notice the spacing and the ; to ,

It really is quite simple

You now have hundreds of colors to choose from

Good point on the fonts.....I use custom fonts but make them an image then make the background match.I think the font selection here is fine and are tried and true safe bets for all that view our sites to be able to see our text.

Hi CL - I don't have much to add to Monique's response, but did want to reinforce that we (both offices) are listening and that we are working as hard as we can to turn our dreams into reality. If you have any more specific feedback, please keep it coming - we hear you and your requests do help drive our development process.

Ed, thanks for jumping in.

I don't do this in the forums because I don't want it to appear that I am trying to get anyone onto my site for any other reason but to help but please visit my links page for some great tools and resources. The majority are free and open to use..

Hello CL,

As someone who works in a web development and design firm, I am keenly aware of what goes into the development of a program such as Synthasite. The fact that a website design and management system such as this is being given away for free has amazed me from the moment I laid eyes on it.

You are a doctor, I would expect not to personally understand everything that you are doing on a daily basis or how you prioritize your day.

Rest assured, coming from a professional in this field, the people at Sythasite have developed an intense product that takes more work and man hours than many people out there could imagine, and it is currently free. I would personally be more than happy to pay for a product of this caliber.

I think sometimes we have to step outside of our situation and look at it from a different perspective.

Take care and good luck with your upcoming motherhood!

heh freedom synth offers a lot more then some free site builders and host try doodlekit they pissed me off on the limits of that site so i found this one but their could be a few changes if they wanted to change it like custom widget adder from other sources or if you make em add the code for your own widget.
umm as for web pages themselves would be nice withing like a column can manually drag pic txt and widget exactly where you want positioned maybe would be nice but is doable if you know some html in the first place.

Hi CL and everybody else,

Thanks for the healthy discussion on this thread.

To build on Monique's post, we will be launching several new styles by the end of November. These styles will be fairly simple with a wide variety of color palettes and should be applicable to a wide range of uses particularly professional ones.

I hope these new styles will address some of your concerns. In addition, we are continuing to work on providing more style options and customization.

Thanks for the feedback and keep letting us know what we're doing well and what we need to improve.

As Randy mentioned about a month ago, we've been working on some customizable templates - he just posted an update at http://getsatisfaction.com/SynthaSite... announcing the new styles!
