Anyone have a search tool for finding images by dimension?

I am trying to find images that will meet the recommended dimensions for my site's banner image but it feels like I'm trying to find a needle in a haystack. Does anyone know of a search engine tool that allows you to specify the theme AND dimensions of the images to be returned? I know that Segamisearch is promising to add this as a future feature but I need it soon.

I guess I could crop the images to my required size but this may cause it to lose some peripheral detail which I would rather avoid if possible.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Lawrence

Interesting question! I don't know of a tool that allows you to specify image dimensions in your search, but I am certainly going to try to find out. In the meantime, here is something else you can try if you haven't already:

SynthaSite has integrated with a powerful image editor called Picnik. You can use this program to resize your banner image to the recommended dimensions:

1) Click on "manage files".

2) In the file manager, highlight the picture you want to resize. Then click "Edit Image" (right next to the "Upload files" button). You can keep the proportions the same, or untick this option and enter your own dimensions - although this may cause the image to distort so you have to experiment to get the right result.

3) Picnik will load (it may take a while, so you will have to be patient).

4) Once your photo is loaded, click on the "resize" button (just below the "Edit" tab).

5) When you are happy with the dimensions, click the yellow "save to SynthaSite" button in the top right hand corner.

This will take you back to SynthaSite. If the image on your page is still the wrong size, you might have to click the "refresh page" button. The new image will then show up on your page.

Please get back to me if you have any trouble resizing your image.

Hi again Monique

Wow, the response time from the Synthasite support team is really impressive! It is a rare pleasure to find a superb product with the added bonus of exceptional support levels.

Thank you for the suggestion, I will give it a try and let you know if I have any trouble. I first need to find an image with the approximate dimension ratios so any distortion from resizing will be minimal so it may take a while.

Have a great weekend!

Glad you are having fun! You are on the right track by looking for an image that is an approximate fit - this will make the final tweaking a lot easier. We are aware that getting the right fit for the banner is a significant pain point for many of our users and we have some plans to make this easier in future. In the meantime, I hope you find a workable solution!
