Maybe a Yola Employee could redirect the other topic to here, so it will show a little message at the top that says "Click here to see the most up-to-date information" like it does on this topic:

Hi Shawn,
You asked me to to post the details of what I asked for in this topic:
http://forum.yola.com/yola/topics/loa...

Basically all I want is the page here (it has a two column layout with the left column narrower than the right column):
http://www.promotionalproductstore.ca... to look the same as it does now, and on the left side where it currently says "Virtual Hat Catalogue" thats one column, and on the left I want to load a link to an external page on an external domain (apparently this is an issue), as our virtual catalogues are provided and hosted by our suppliers. I want to be able to add virtual catalogues to the left side as they are provided by the suppliers and then I want the text link to load the virtual catalogue on the left side. I know how to do this with old style frames, but using old style frames is deprecated, and apparently iframes are also. I don't need anything fancy in terms of looks.

I found this page http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicin... and it basically does what I just described, but I'm a little confused as to how to impletement it.

Thanks,
Daniel

Hi Daniel,

I see that you want to load content into your page via AJAX.

Is the page that you want to load on the same domain as yours, or is it on a different domain?

We look forward to helping you with this.

Kind regards,
Nathan

Hi Nathan,
The pages I want to load is not on the same domain, they are on external domains as they are provided by our product suppliers.

Thanks,
Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for letting us know. But, unfortunately, AJAX only works with files on the same domain name. If they're in your Yola File Manager (on the same domain) then it would work. This is a security thing and it can't be changed, as it is out of Yola's control. This is how it is on all websites. Sorry about that.

You can still use iframes though, but I, too, don't like iframes. Hopefully the internet people will allow AJAX across domains someday.

Kind regards,
Nathan

Thanks for posting the topic here Daniel.
Daniel, I know how to do this in PHP, however, Yola doesn't allow that. However, what we can do is make the iframe be generated on the fly so it isn't there all the time. Also, we could restyle an iframe to your needs, like removing borders, changing border colors, adding border radius, adding a custom scrollbar for it...

We would be glad to assist in this.

Sincerely,
Kevin

Hi Nathan,
How does AJAX handle a local html page that loads a Flash .swf on a differnet server? I can save the page I currently call, and it works when run from my local drive, so I assume it would run fine if I upload the saved html page to Yola. So for the one catalogue I have so far, I can use a local (same domain) html page, but the .swf is on a remote site.

Also, do you have any ideas how to do a something like a newsfeed that side scrolls (with a fade in and out maybe) from right to left with the content of our blog (index.php/index.rss) and our daily/weekly specials (daily-and-weekly-specials.php/daily-and-weekly-specials.rss) and have it include any pictures linked in the post (mostly for the specials). I want to put this my page header (the header code currently uses an iframe that displays a custom header.html file I uploaded to Yola).

Thanks,
Daniel
