What is the best tool to see if websites, who said they would link to you, still are. I've been link exchanging for ages now and just want a quick and easy way to see who's linked to me. Any ideas?

well... there's websitegrader at hubspot that will tell you how many links you have from other websites but they don't say specifically from where. What I would do, is randomly check websites who once linked to you and see if you're still being linked to. Check like 5 a day and at the end of every 10 days figure...

34 out of 50 websites are still linking to me, so 68% of websites who once linked to me are still linking to me. This will give you a good idea of the outcome and effect you have on other website owners.

I can tell you about 94% of all websites I've once been linked from still link to me, however, this number significantly changes when you figure who you've ASKED to link to you because not all will link to you. About 2% of all websites I've asked to link to me actually do.

I've just had a massive cull of web links. The amount of links that have been deleated on others behalves I found a little ... dissapointing. Am I right in saying that they benefit from having a one way link from me?

SEO Sheer, my newest fav tool gives tells you where your main references are coming from. Not sure how they decide what "main" is, but it gave me over 90 in bound links, which was a massive help.

Message for Donald. I just came across another thred where you were asking about directory lists and if some were woth it. On SEO Sheer, they give you a massive list of business directories and you can bulk submit. They also tell you how they rank in the eyes of google, so just submit to the highly raning ones.

It only benefits them if they get customers from your link. I get between 10 and 125 visitors a day and out of all of my links from other sites I get virtually no visitors from them. I get 0 to 5 visitors a day from people linking to me. Therefore, I don't benefit from them linking to me unless the link is clicked, and then I again don't benefit unless that click results in a purchase or a click through.

Yea, I've done some research. Those directories are fake trying to scam you. I've used SEO tools, I've looked at "highly recommended" lists of directories, etc.

99% of ALL website directories own 10 or more other website directories and the only difference is its color and logo. Then you don't get any traffic from them. I am listed in about 1200 different website directories, some of which were from "reliable resources" and not one single visitor has EVER come from those directories.
