Automatic update on a set date.

Automatic updates are really a great help. For example if i have a corner in my site which shows "Tip of the Day", it becomes a bit difficult to update it daily. Though a small section doesnt require much time, but that means you need to be connected to a Computer everyday..!! I wish there could be some way, where i can set up/ save the things for automatic updates.
I know synthasite guys are working hard. And this feature would require another big deal of time and efforts. I have no deadlines or urgent need of this feature. This idea just hit me, so thought of sharing.

Hi Monica

How about creating your own RSS feed for your site and then adding it using our RSS widget? Here is a link to a site that allows you to do this and it is free: http://www.webrss.com/?source=GL1001&...

I would love for you to investigate this and tell me if it offers what you need. I am sure other people will also be interested in this idea.

Cheers
Monique

Here are two links that should help: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSS_(fil...
and http://www.whatisrss.com/

Take a look and tell me if that sounds anything like what you had in mind.

I read about RSS etc, and what i understood is "my readers will get updates either in an RSS field or in emails" (i may have misunderstood it..!! please enlighten me if i m wrong!!) But even in that case, i have to come personally, switch on my PC and add stuff to show up in RSS feed.
But honestly, after few days i might shift to a new town for my studies. I will come back only on saturdays/sundays. It is against the rules of my college to have an internet connection in hostel.
So i will be very happy, if i can add content and set a date to publish it on my site (just like we do it on blogger, we save the blog posts and set a future date for automatic postings). That way i can save different text to show up each day..!!
I would be very happy if anybody can suggest me any alternative to do this, or if synthasite has any plans to incorporate "automatic update my site" feature.
Otherwise i might have to scrap the idea of "tip of the day" column. :-(

But Guys, thanks alot fo all other stuff which i CAN do with help of synthasite.
*HUGS*

This sounds like a feature request related to blogging. As we are working on our blogging platform right now, we are looking for requests of this nature. I will add it to the list.

No internet in your dorm room??? That sounds like cruel and unusual punishment to me :-)

nope, i don't want it in my blog. I will have a corner on my index page which i wanna update everyday :-(
And they have banned internet connections due to various valid reasons, like too much of virtual world doesnt let student study more over too much typing and being in front of screen makes one drowsy enough to skip studies!! Though i love being connected, but i appreciate their efforts to make us more worth in real life rather than on virtual world ;)

I know these rules are made for good reasons. We would all do well to tear our eyes away from the screen for a day or two. The internet is addictive if not managed correctly. We will be building a number of widgets related to blogging, but this might open the way to these widgets being able to be used elsewhere on your site as well.
