Aviary editing problem: when trying to upload a simple image (white background, black text) Aviary turns the background color into red and the text into white when using their editing tools...any idea why? Also...is there a way to create more text fonts for us to use than the one?? Thanks for the time taken in replying to these questions! Maybe i just need to get used to Aviary now that we don't have Picnic anymore but it seems like it only has half the editing options :(

A little further explanation: not only does it change the colors without asking it to do so, it also overwrites my photo this way in my file manager....

Also.... I've tried using control Z to undo my last action in editing but this doesn't work, plus i don't see an option for undo anywhere on the controls either...this is quite annoying and time consuming...

Hi Sakia,

Aviary at this stage doesn't have all the functions of Picnik, it is being developed.
Many users have found that an offline or other online-offsite image editor provides them with the flexibility and quality not seen in the onsite editors and so go for the other option.

Quality editors such as Photoshop, GIMP, Paint.NET and Pixlr can produce stunning images either online or free downloads, depending on the selection. many users here use these in preference to an online-onsite editor and report that the quality and speed is superior.

I'm also having problems with Aviary. When I try to save a photo after simple editing (sharpening and saturation adjust) it I end up with strange colours and it looks like Andy Warhol popart!. I wish Picnik hadn't closed down :-( Looks like I'll have to use an online editor, although it would be much more convenient to edit within the Yola editor.

Just to let everyone know that I have been trying out different free online photo editors this evening, and by far the easiest and most modern one is at http://www.BeFunky.com which has loads of excellent features.

Thanks MarkN and Gop for your alternate photo editing suggestions. In addition to that I wanted to address Saskia's request for additional fonts. We actually just released a new selection of preset font settings in the Sitebuilder. What this allows you to do is change the font of your entire website in a single click. The fonts provided are "Google web fonts" which means they're open source and supported in all modern browsers. This is a great way to revamp your site, without having to worry about coding!

All styles start off with the "Default" option selected. Selecting a new font family will apply those changes to your site - but don't worry, your widget font and any custom HTML you may have added will not be affected. When you change styles, the font will automatically be set to that style's default. When you return to a previous style in which you have customized the fonts, that customization will be reapplied.

Here's how to change your site font:

In the Sitebuilder click on Styles > Customize Fonts.
You will see larger text and smaller text. The larger text is how your headings will look, the smaller text is body text.
Select the font you'd like to use.
The changes will be visible immediately.

To revert to the default font, simply click Styles > Customize Fonts and select "Default for style".

Thanks Laura for the info on the Google Web Fonts.

May I ask if this is the same process of customising fonts manually and that a viewer will see the true custom font on their screen, even if they don't have the font installed? This I can't see a reassurance of?

Gop, Mark and Laura: THANKS! For taking the time in reading my message and especially for taking the time to answer, much appreciated! I don't want to change the layout of my website at all, just want a simple thing like putting text over a photo, so...i'll definately try out BeFunky!! Thanks again! :D

Aviary's still saturating pictures in pink for me... is there a way to "undo" the saved changes? I haven't published the changes, but I was simply trying to resize the photos. I just didn't have all my photos in an easy access location, so once they were uploaded, I thought I was done. It seems aviary changes to the pictures you upload are permanent to the uploaded file. This is disappointing. The pictures are supposed to look natural. This is ridiculous.

Hello csanders

I'm sorry that you are having this problem. Can you please do me a favour to be able to check things in your Yola account?

Please go to your Yola File Manager and create a folder named "Test". Open this folder and upload 1 or 2 original images to be resized. Then let me know, and I'm happy to check the Aviary functionality in your File Manager.

Thank you for working through this with us.
