Background changes won't "stick"

I'm trying to change my background image. I can see the new image in the sitebuilder but, when I preview it I only see the old image. Also, when I tell it to apply the new background to all the pages it says that it did and then I go to another page and it's still the old one. When I go back to the page before the new one is gone and the old one is back. Help!

Hi Robin,

Are you clicking on save when you do the changes? You have to save then preview to see any changes you made.

Yes. I've saved over and over again. I've cleared my cache. It worked on only one of my pages. I do not know why it won't stay saved on any other page.

My url is http://lolidots.com

but, I haven't updated anything yet so I'm not sure how that will help. I'm having problems in the sitebuilder. I don't want to update until I can preview and see that it's good.

I've made some other changes and after saving they are nice and look the way I changed them. The only thing that won't save and stay saved is the background image.

Thanks Littleus,

They are looking into it. I was hoping to get someone on here who'd had the same problem and figured it out. I'm thinking it's a bug and not something I'm doing or not doing.

Hello Robin

From what I can see from the url you provided, it would appear that you have a style css tag which is most likely over-riding the template you are wanting to have for your site. You will need to delete the HTML widget box that contains this code. You can find it by looking for these words: style type="text/css" Can you try deleting this HTML and then try reapplying your template?

Here is the code that Littleus is talking about in case you couldn't find it:
<!--

<style type="text/css"> TD TD {text-align: center;} TD TD TD
{text-align: center;} TD TD TD TD {border-top: 0px solid; width:5%;
text-align:center;} TD TD TD TD TD {border-top: 0px solid black;
text-align:center;} TD TD TD TD TD TD {border: 0px solid;} TABLE, TD
{padding: 0px; text-transform: inherit; width:300px;} TABLE TABLE
{padding: 0px; text-transform: inherit;} TABLE TABLE TABLE {padding:
1px; text-transform: inherit;height: .01%; width: 100%;} TABLE TABLE
TABLE TABLE {padding: 0px; text-transform: inherit;} TABLE TABLE
TABLE TABLE TABLE {padding: 0px; text-transform: inherit;} TABLE
TABLE TABLE TABLE TABLE TABLE {padding: 0px; text-transform:
inherit;} </style> <style type="text/css"> body {
background-color:990099;
background-image:url('http://i491.photobucket.com/albums/rr...;
background-position:center center; background-repeat:repeat;
background-attachment:fixed; } table, tr, td {background:transparent;
border:0px;} table table table {background-color:990099;} table table
table { border-width:3px; border-color:99CC66; border-style:solid; }
table table table table {border:0px;} input
{background-color:transparent !important;} td, span, div, input, a,
table td div div font, body div table tbody tr td font<STYLE
type="text/css"> BODY {scrollbar-3dlight-color:990099;
scrollbar-arrow-color:FF9999; scrollbar-base-color:99CC66;
scrollbar-track-color:FFFFFF; scrollbar-darkshadow-color:99CC66;
scrollbar-face-color:99CC66; scrollbar-highlight-color:99CC66;
scrollbar-shadow-color:99CC66} </style>

-->
Like she said, delete this and it should go back to normal.
Hope this helps-Dan

The problem has been solved by removing the HTML that contained the style css code which was over-riding the desired template.

I'm having the same issue repeatedly.I contacted Yola support team but have not received a response yet. I do not understand exactly how to apply the process described here, and I don;t want to lose all my pages as I've already done a lot of work.

Can someone pls explain step by step what to do?. 1) go here. 2) then do x. 3) then do y. 4)Then input z. (and include where to get z - the code I'm supposed to insert after I delete the old?), and 5) how to finish the process.

And, can you pls confirm -- when I'm erasing code, am I erasing all my content? Will it wipe my work and pages out? How do I preserve my work?

Thanks for the assist.

Hello KK,

Yola will respond to your email within 48 hours. (24 hours if you are Silver). remember also that it is the weekend so staff numbers are reduced so very difficult for those on duty to respond as quickly as they normally do.

This post is not meant to be a complaint about Yola support. I thnk the Yola support team is great!! In the meantime, however, I have a problem which I have tried repeatedly to resolve myself and can't. Found this question on the forum and hoping someone in the community can help. Can't afford to do nothing on this all weekend. I have already changed styles once to resolve another problem. I dont want to start over a third time if don't have to.

I love Yola. Just need help when glitches happen that aren't normal.

(fyi, I am a Silver and submitted my question more than 24 hours ago, before the weekend. I had two questions. They answered the 2nd one, but not this one, unless I have overlooked it somehow. I checked all emails and don't see anything.)

have you added a background to your changed style and now wish to alter it again?

If the support staff can't answer a multi-questioned query they generally refer it onto the specialist team. This can take a longer period so that is possibly the reason.

Erasing code in an HTML widget will only delete that piece of code.
If you are changing CSS in the CSS editor it will change or delete only the altered code not all of your unrelated code.

I'm still stuck and have lost two and half days of work time on this. Can anyone please help me resolve? I can't publish my site as is -- the black color scheme looks terrible with the women's non-profit site we've created.

I have tried nearly every combination of problem-solving approaches you might imagine. Putting a new color or background in. Taking them out. Logging off and on. Clearing my cache. Changing Yola styles altogether. Changing them back again. Nothing works.

Most of us only turn to forums and support AFTER we have already done extensive problem-solving on our own. (So when people say things like "did you push save?" it's really irritating and not at all helpful. I'm not asking for assistance because I'm 'slow'!) I'm an active Yola Silver customer for 2+ years, so, I know what "normal" looks like. In this case, something is definitely not normal. It's a glitch with the system. I just want to find out how to fix it. I tried giving up and just changing templates and styles. Unfortunately this caused all my content to be off. I either have to redesign my home page and reformat all the other pages I built, or fix this background stick problem. Hopefully I can figure out how to change the background color for good and be on my way!

Many thanks to anyone who can assist with this!!

PS I submitted this as a single question to support, not a multi question. I submitted my 2nd question separately.

Hi KK,

Can you tell me the style you are using?

You mentioned using a style with a black colour scheme. There are a few so I'm not sure which one?

I've had similar problems before but I don't know if your sequence or style is the same as the one I had used.

Hi, KK,

Your request is in the HTML team's queue. They requested I take a look at it as the delay for them may be longer than expected. There does seem to be a bug with the Inky Night style and changing the background. I was able to get the background color to change with CSS but the text will not show. I will give you the code I currently have but as it is very late here I want to be fresh to tackle the text problem. It will take me a little time to work with that.

To change the background color, go to Site >> Site Settings >> Site CSS. Add the following code to the left side "Site CSS Overrides". Make sure the box at the bottom is unchecked (disable Site CSS Overrides). This will not affect the content and you can go back and disable the changes if needed.

body { font-family: "Lucida Grande", Verdana, Arial, sans-serif;
font-size:12px;
color:#CCCCCC;
text-align:center;
background-color:#ffffff;
background-image:none;
background-repeat:repeat-x;
background-attachment:fixed;
background-position:;
}
div.ys_left_shadow { display:none;
}

div.ys_right_shadow { display:none;
}

Otherwise, at this point, it may be more expedient to change the style. I will be logging a bug for the style.

Okay, I am tired! I just realized my text was on a different page than the index so it is there. So the above code should work okay. Please let me know how this goes for you.
