I changed the background image but the size 1500-1700 px width always change on different monitors. Whats the best background size on a squeaky clean template that doesnt change in every monitor. Thanks and more power.

Hi Frederick

Some points:

1.) The background on squeakyclean tiles (e.g.: if you use a small image, it will repeat across the background of your page).

2.) You are correct when you say that the size changes for varying monitor sizes. This is a general rule of thumb for web development, so one should not bank on specific dimensions across differing users.

So:

What you want to do with a tiling background is look for something along the lines of either a solid color, or a subtle texture that will tile seamlessly (so you cannot see the edges when one image is placed next to another one).

For example, have a look at the various tastelessly (the default template in the sitebuilder) palettes. In particular 'pinklady' provides a nice example of how you can use a subtle tiling image to achieve a nice effect with your background.

Is there a way to make a photo large enough so there is not tiling? I am using my Paint Net Software trying to create something original and even when I make the dimensions large I still get a seam over to the right.

Thank you much, in advance;)

I used a photograph as my background and my dimensions are about 1700px wide.

Another idea is you could center a large photograph on a background that blends with your picture. So, if the background "tiles", it's not noticeable because it's one color.

Does this help?
