Hi guys im just wondering if anyone can answer a question for me about backlinks?

My website is http://www.musiclvrs.net and what i want to know is this, if someone places a link on their website for me but they put it as http://musiclvrs.net does this count as a backlink? How important or not is the www prefix?

Sorry if this seems a bit dumb but i can't find an answer anywhere, on yahoo site explorer these two url's give different results and i know some sites are linking to me without the www so i really need to find out.

Thanks in advance
Gary

Back links are a big deal....What I have read is that you want all your back links to match...With or without the www is fine. You just need to decide on one and stick with it...When you go to your home page does it show www or just http:// ? You will find better info on this in your Google Webmaster Tools and their help menus...OK ..I went and looked ...I would make all back link URLS match yours exactly....Looks like you have maybe set a preference in Google as to www or not to www

it makes no difference - I say ditch the www. its 'old school dude' If a user puts it or does not it makes no difference.
I have in my webmasters account a www. and 1 without but at the end of the day its the same site. You wont find a www. listed in search results then a just http:// because its the same site. There is no need to worry about collecting an amount of back links, the only thing about a back link is whether or not it points someone to your site which it will with or without the www.
